Okay. Flame if you want. This is what you'd probably call a vanity. Yes, I am a new member, but I've lurked here for years. And no, I'm not from DU!!! However, I am asking a serious opinion here, not trying to start a flame war. I am an agnostic. But I am a conservative. I am anti-abortion, think gay marriage is wrong, I hate high taxes, and think the Dept. of Education is a bunch of shiznit.
But I can't meet a woman like me. All the girls in my age group (I'm 20) are either flaming liberals, or, if they are conservative, they're Jesus freaks. I don't mean to offend anyone but that's the best description I can come up with. Does a non-religious, or "libertarian" type, young, conservative, SINGLE female exist, or not?
But I'm all better now.
Nope. I'm 31. :)
I knew I'd get this.
Well, then have a little humor about it, O.K.?
Really. Think about the question you posted, did you expect it to be taken seriously or to get any respect?
As a Christian- those people even scare me.
I agree. I also think it's easier for Christians to identify a Jesus Freak than for non-Christians.
non-Christians have no idea what to look out for. Obviously.
I dunno, I can kinda dig Stryper.
But I agree on "The Big Lebowski!" My girlfriend is liberal and won't watch that with me, though.
I didn't think there were ANY conservatives in San Fran.
Not to pick fights, but if "Jesus Freak" meant an "enthusiast" of Christ, would that not be at least somewhat accurate?
I don't normally use the term, but just wondering.
He's probably looking for both!
Why, did he convert you?
I do not like it..It denigrates my faith..I am not an enthusiast..I am a believer.
I think "speed freak" is also listed.
Freak is almost always associated with a negative picture.
It may be fashionable slang..but I would never use it.
What you end up with depends on what you were looking for to start with. Either can be both but intent is important.

Ya think?
I'm with Jefferson, too. You'll find a lot of people on FR who think he is burning in Hell right now, but he sums up my philiosophy admirably in this quote:
"Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear". --Thomas Jefferson
Blindfolded fear, of course, is much easier for some people. Thinking for oneself is a lot of work. It's a lot easier to move to the woods and hide from the world, because you believe the Rapture is coming right after breakfast. ;)
Yeah, I think The Big Lebowski is a guy movie. I think even the most conservative and motivated guy finds something appealing in The Dude. And at times the usual bowling and the occasional acid flashback seems like a good way to pass the time.
Seriously, you are generalising both ends of the spectrum. I know a lot of women who are Republican but not conservative--I think that might actually be the distinction you're looking for. I also know a few democrat women who are pretty conservative. If you want to meet a broad spectrum of women who are Republicans, your best bet would be to get active with your county GOP committee. County cmtes meet once a month, free, open to the public. Check yours out, thank me later.
Go through this thread and read all of gingersnap's posts because so far, she's (you're a she, right?) giving you the best advice. If you want to meet a woman who shares your interests sociopolitically, you need only to begin running in those particular sociopolitical circles. GOP meetings, NRA meetings, RTL meetings--there are a lot of pro-lifers who are activists. Doesn't always mean that they are zealots. Not that I have anything against zealots.
Jefferson wrote his own bible omitting any references to miracles in it. He admired Jesus for being a good person. I guess he thought Jesus was crucified for (as Henry Rollins puts it) being too f'in cool for his time.

I love that movie. I'll bet there are many women who do.
I think.
Well, thanks! Yes, I am a conservative gal. Our friend just needs to get with like-minded types. (Buddy - find out if your conservative friends have sisters!)
