I got a spanking with a belt....but it only happened a few times....I learned quickly....but that was back in the 50's when you were allowed to spank children(although I don't recommend using a belt)
Do timeouts actually work? They seem kinda worthless to me, but I don't have kids.
I got that a few times, but it was for good reason.
A friend of mine and I got caught smoking once and I got the belt.
The worst part wasn't actually getting swatted it was waiting for my dad to get home to do it. He's a trucker and it was like 3 days before he got home.
But guess what, I don't smoke.
My father never spanked. He was too gentle and sentimental.
Mother would switch. We would have to go out in yard and get a switch! Needless to say, the switches we chose were somewhat small!
I would switch as well, but soon discovered switching through blue jeans is relatively ineffective.
I really think now that other forms of discipline are better, but I don't think it's a sin to switch or spank.
