Before I retired I lived in America and pretended to be a native.
If I eat a late supper at 10pm., it is now almost 2pm and I won´t be going to bed until about 2:30, so from 10pm to 2:30am is four and half hours. That is just as though I had eaten at seven and gone to bed at eleven thirty.
What I was trying to understand was the customs of Europe who take two months vactions and dine at different times!
