The top knife is a bit of a mystery. The dealer listed it as a "Camillus scaled-down copy of the respected Emerson Specwar knife". The blade isn't much bigger than the HH's blade. The knife is nicely made, with an overmolded semi-soft plastic handle, and a decent chisel blade, sharpened on one side only, as is the HH knife.
The strange part is, the knife is totally unmarked. An email to Camillus brought no response. The knife is being discontinued, and I haven't seen it offered anywhere elso. It's a very high quality knife, however.
The biggest fault, after the unknown pedigree of the knife, is the semi-hokey sheath. The good news is that it has a hard plastic liner (as should all sheath knifes) for safety. The bad news is that the design is somewhat lame, and can only fit on a belt. The knife also rattled in the sheath, but I have developed a fix for that.
I have five of the knives (I seem to buy a quantity sight-unseen, just to be on the safe side). I propose to off them to the HH folks here at what I paid, $30 plus shipping. Either that, or give them away to the first five REMFs who want one. It's a fine knife, but it has too many "issues" for me to give to infantry.
The bottom knife is also by Camillus. It's their Cuda brand "Black Ops Knife". This one seems to be a winner. Technically, there's nothing I can find fault with, except for the semi-smooth micarta handle. The sheath has a hard plastic liner, and there are tiedown grommits and provisions for alice clips. An alice-to-MOLLE adapter exists that could allow the knife to be attached easily to body armor. The blade is stainless steel with a crinkle epoxy finish. Laser engraving should result in light gray lettering against a black background.
The same dealer that sold me the "sterile" Camillus is also selling this Cuda (with proper markings) as a closeout for $26 each. I searched online, and this knife lists for about $110. Street prices range from $90 to $60.
The kicker is, "my" dealer lists these as discontinued, and is blowing them out for less than half the price of other dealers. I suspect the other dealers paid a whole lot more for their knives, and want to still get top dollar for them.
I'm vey impressed with this knife, especially at that price. I ordered five initially, and just ordered ten more.
These are the kind of knives that we cannot pass around freely. They should only go to bonafide grunts who need and want one. They cost a bit more than our current costs for the CRKTs, but I suspect quantities will be limited, and we have to be more selective in who we give them to.
