New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
He seems to be taking it well.

hey... the world is muh toilet...
I need a bigger house....and a cathedral ceiling...
Always a good feelin' when yer kids do things you never could, ain't it?
see post 5787...
Interest rates are cheap. You can probably cash out and get a nice big McMansion with little pain. Except that big houses mean more cleaning (BOOOOO hisssss) and cathedral ceilings are big energy wasters.
Don't get me wrong. I'll dream about a bigger house, but I ain't movin' all this crap again.
I just want to finish cleaning out the attic and the garage...for once...
Well... howdy there. I'm at home today. It's been a pretty lousy weekend.
I kinda was in a car wreck on friday night. Totalled the cherokee. Well... dunno if it is an official total yet, but that's where I'd lay the odds.
It was really odd. Apparently I feel asleep at the wheel, less than a mile from the beach house. All I knew was that I rounded a corner and then was jolted awake by the brush smacked up against the windshield. I crawled out and the jeep was something like 50 feet off the road down in a ravine. It had somehow banged over some stumps and just barely between a couple of big trees.
I wasn't hurt, other than getting all scratched up in blackberryies crawling out of there. I'm really pretty bummed out about the whole thing. Dad really loved that cherokee sport and now they're not making them anymore.
There was another car that came along pretty quick after me, and he stopped and called 911... so pretty soon the place was lousy with sheriffs and fire trucks.
And nope... I know what yer thinkin'... I wasn't even out drinkin'. I did stop for literally just a couple of beers at the Sunset, but left by about 9. Was sober, but apparently more tired than I thought. I don't recall being particularly drowsy. I remember the whole trip up until I turned the corner, and then suddenly being at the bottom of the ravine. I have no idea what happened on the way off the road.
The sheriff and the EMT's talked to me for a while, but the sheriff never even asked for my license (I thought that was odd) then called it a "nonreportable" and just waited around with us until the wrecker got there.
I'm still concerned about the sudden loss of consciousness. I've been drowsy before, and this wasn't like that. It was just one minute fine and the next minute sitting there with the windshield full of brush and trees and wondering what the hell was going on.
In fact it was creepy enough that I went in to the doctor on Saturday to have some tests done. Got a really good doc at the urgent care place... told her the story and she checked me out for neurologic stuff, head injury, and did a full blood workup and EKG. I was concerned about maybe an undiagnosed diabetic condition or something... but the blood work came back OK... except for record-setting cholesterol.
Had a good talk with the doc about some needed lifestyle changes to drop this weight I've been packing on, and stop the trip I'm making toward an early heart attack. [sigh]
So... how was everybody else's weekend? :-)
Bummer about the Jeep, but I'm glad you weren't hurt.
Jeepers. So sorry. We should have called sometime over the weekend. Are you home?
Which ravine place? Can you describe the place in the road? Never mind.... I'm gonna call.
Good Lord man! That's more than "kinda" a wreck.
Glad yer okay.
Yah... major bummer.
Crash sneak.
