Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

My WQ would have been much higher, but they didn't have any questions about weaponry.

Yeah, and she just *barely* fits in that dress. But the character is interesting in that she's a robot who uses her sexuality to corrupt a very vain, shallow man and through him attempt to destroy the entire human race. You don't know whether to admire her or despise her and you don't know whether to hate him or pity him. The writers did good with this story arch.

I really would like the entire basement emptied and scrubbed - that'll take the weekend all by itself, the rest of the house really, really well flyladied, the closets and cabinets organized, and the office painted. If you could clean out the closets so that they're half full would help too....makes 'em look roomier.

Evening - when do you want us to show up?

What is the "Black Breath"?It's never really explained explicitly, but it is one of the evil effects of the Nazgul, like a spell of some kind. If I remember correctly, there are only a couple instances of it in the book - Merry in Bree, and Faramir. Maybe Eowyn too. Merry describes it as "I thought I had fallen into deep water... I had an ugly dream, which I can't remember. I went to pieces. I don't know what came over me."

We gotta go see the baby...
See ya later!

Well... in all honesty, I must admit that it's not ~all~ by memory. I have the books in HTML and Word formats, which makes for quick searching of a word or phrase. ;~)

Hi, Osage!
Since I last spoke with you, I figured out what string follow is...ever hear of the guy, Leonard Stringfellow...maybe he is named for that?
My (68") bows made for the kids have about 1.25" of string follow, which I gather is OK for such a long bow. I gather the longer bows tolerate it OK, thanks for pointing me to them for a start.

Evening Sam - That amount of follow is normal and much better than most that start out with a board. A bit of follow is thought by many to allow the bow to shoot a bit smoother and with less hand shock.
There generally is a bit of follow, some start with a reflexed stave in order to have zero follow (darn near the holy grail of bowery) but in reality they have some otherwise the bow would have a been reflexed to the same degree as the stave was. They simply built in some tolerance for the inevitable follow.

Really sorry to hear bout Nana's condition, I've heard that is really a tough go. Didn't know the meds were that pricey. "chickenpox-the gift that keeps on giving".

Evening OT - Don't know bout you but planting tomatoes doesn't occur to me right now... You been parking in the garage these wintery days?
Both of the cats aren't straying too far from the radiator pads these days. :-)

These catalogues want me to start 'em from seeds. I'm not seeing the need to do that for plants that I can buy already started.
At least not 'til I've got a few more years experience.
