The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Wool hat, wool neck scarf, two or three layers of long johns and sweats... and dare the little bugger to a heat contest. Oh? You want it hot? I got hot for yah... :-)

I think it's probably down now. I was freezing all day long and up until I took it before dinner. I ate some plain pasta and that seemed to help. Seems like tonite's challenge will be the cough.

I do NOT want to live through this cough again. I'm not sure I ~can~.

It works well for me... I can sometimes burn the little bugger out in 24 hours. Between that and the whiskey (strictly as a disinfectant, you understand...) it usually means for a short episode.

Not always.

Or is it the other way 'round?

If all goes well, I'll be long gone by then.

It'll all depend on how fast the house sells. But I'm hoping it won't take more than a few months. Certainly not nine!

I have to be downtown at 7:00 a.m. in the morning, so I won't likely make the gym. But I thought about piling the clothes on and going and sitting in the sauna all night...

roger that... that cough that I got a few months ago was a really nasty one. Nothing seemed to matter or help. Took a couple of weeks to finally pass.

'got my toddy' just ONE? Southern Comfort might be appropriate in this case.

Well, this is a reprise of what started in September. For three weeks in October I slept sitting up because the coughing attacks were like asthma attacks and my throat closed off.

It's never gone completely away. I went through about five cough drops per show at Christmas.

Ouch. The concept of 7am and the concept of "downtown" used in the same sentence... ouch. Nope. Not liking that.
