The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'd like to see maps of ME done up after the style of my favorite Rand McNally road atlases.

I'd make 'em myself, but Alas!-- I lack the skill.

Well, folkses...time for me to hit the hay. Hopefully tonight I can get warm enough to sleep. Last night even with the heat on and lots o' blankets, I kept waking up. < /whine >

Yeepers. But: I'm taking tomorrow off!!! This gives me a FIVE day weekend. Except for the parts where I have to answer the phone. And I'll put myself on-call too. But at least its something! :-)

I gotta go too...the jedis'll be in soon and I want to get some of these packages wrapped and under the tree. It looks kinda skimpy under there right now!

See you all later...

Good night, Rosie!

Pop them blankets in the dryer for a bit before you go to bed. Stay warm!

Go on. Rub it in.

Yah... and being on-call around Christmas is a PITA. People buy their kids a new computer, and think they can call the company help desk to get support to set it up on Christmas Day.

[sound of buzzer] Pencils down. Test over. We do NOT support your kids computers, buttmunch. :-) or, something to that effect.

~snicker~

There are just some folks in this world that should not operate a computer. I know this.

What we need is some way to enforce this logic remotely.

mmmmmm....Zapping idiots....

I have clients that I have walked through the payroll process, no lie, 15 or 20 times. It is one of the simplest programs you could ever use and even though I actually sit on the phone, step-by-step with them, the payroll is STILL wrong.

That or they end up faxing it for me to key in anyway because they keep getting "error" messages. Grrrrr.....

They fail to realize that it isn't the program...it's the user!

To: RMDupree

The only way to stop that is to remove the ability for them to fax it to you and make it your problem. That's *always* going to be easier than doing it themselves. [sigh]

I actually prefer when they fax it, to be honest.

I'd rather do it once the right way, than have to go back and run additional payrolls to fix their mistakes.

And I'm talking silly mistakes. Like paying someone 80 vacation dollars, instead of 80 vacation hours. *sigh*

Let 'em do it once. Probly be the only time it ever happens. :-)
