The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good evening Bear! I've been off wandering the wilds tonight, I am glad to see you here!

Good evening, and thanks.

Almost wandered onto some different threads myself earlier in the day, but I thought better of it.

~sigh~

6 minutes left. Auburn is up 16-6.

Question is now, when can I respectably go to bed without looking like a fair weather fan???

In six minutes.... game minutes, not real time.

Just think how rotten you'll feel if you go to bed before the end, and find out in the morning that VT made a comeback and won it...

I'd think so in the morning.

Heh...that amazed me the year I went to the Super Bowl. Dallas was beatin' the snot out of Buffalo. People started leavin' at the beginning of the fourth quarter. I was thinkin' "I'll never be at another Super Bowl." I'm not leavin' early...

30 seconds ago, I woulda believed that. But Auburn just intercepted it...3 minutes to go...

It's been a good game though. Auburn's a mighty fine team.

Okay, so I'm rambling about Tech.

But for a team that was picked sixth in the league at the beginning of the season, to take the ACC championship, then to play the number 3 team (arguably the #1 team) and give a respectable showing.

That ain't bad. And it's a young team.

I'll admit, I'd love it if Jr. got to play for them.

No, we were travelling.

Was there some competition in the RoseBear household?

Nope, no competition, I was rooting for Texas the whole way.

I only ever rooted for Michigan in the past when they played Ohio State or Notre Dame...

This was the weekend of amazing last-play-chances games, it seemed. The Rose Bowl... the ASU game... (sun bowl?)... they're all running together...

But it seemed to me that there were like three games this weekend that were all decided in the last few seconds.
