New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
I don't think anyone can really grasp what happened. It's just one of those awful things that happen in life and we're all left to wonder why. :(
I just hope that no epidemics like typhoid take hold, making it that much worse for them.
Although realistically, it seems likely that disease will take its toll under those conditions.
I know what you mean. The numbers are so big...and I've never seen even a small disaster. I just can't even get my head around it. I feel bad because I can't feel enough grief for such a horrible thing, if that makes any sense.
Evenin' Rosie!
I am depressed to admit that I still have the ROTK EE sitting on my dresser, unwatched.
I've been working so much lately that I've barely had enough time to spend with my girls. I feel guilty taking 4 hours to myself to watch the movie when I only see the kids for a couple of hours each night before bed.
But my birthday's coming up so I've already asked for babysitting so I can go over to trini's and do a 3 film marathon. :-D
I've just seen the first disc - can't wait to dig into the special features and commentaries! I should have more time this weekend.
When is your birthday?
hehehehe....
2J just loves her noodling, doncha know!
But seeing her pull that big ol' clam outta the beach at WeddingMoot was enough to show me that girl's can do anything she sets her mind to!
The 6th.
But I'll have to wait until the 8th for the mini-moot-movie-marathon.
Yah... and that's just it. Typhus and Cholera could well take even more than the waves did. It is just beginning. The world response to this will make the difference for many thousands of people, but the problem is of a magnitude that there isn't likely a way to make it work everywhere fast enough. [sigh]
But: there are a couple of ways that this might have been worse, but it wasn't. First, the wave wasn't as big as it might have been. Thirty or so feet is pretty small by tsunami standards, and had this been a hundred feet, as is quite possible, it would have been much worse.
Second, this wave hit very early in the morning, before the beaches were packed with people. A couple of hours later and the casualties would likely be double or triple.
Sure, it's looking for good news in the face of bad news, but maybe that's just me. It might well have been far worse.
*filing away the date of Ruthy's birthday for future reference*
There is much grief to go around, over there. Thankfully no one person has to bear it all.
Hmm... gives one a new appreciation of The Passion.
(yikes... where did *that* come from?)
Wow...that's a very deep thought. I'd never really thought of it quite like that.
You're right on all those counts, of course.
It's still such a waste of life. Especially the kids. The little ones are the ones that really tear my heart out.
They didn't have a chance.
Here's hoping the meds and supplies that are on their way over there make a huge impact on the number of sick people and kids.
*peers at Rosie suspiciously out of the corner of my eye*
New appreciation indeed. *nods*
Well, we're back.
The 6th??? Dagnabit...
Hmm...
Welcome back you two!
I see that Homer is still with you. Plan on keepin' him?
A brief observation:
Polar Express is best viewed in IMAX 3D.
That is all.
Good night.
:)
*eyes Ramius with same suspicious look*
*grin*
Hi XGI!
Bye XGI!
...and they're bottom-feeders too. Ick! The only catfish I eat is farm raised.
Me neither. Still trying to figure out what it means. This could take a while. I'll get back to you on that.
:-)
