The life expectancy of the station is only 15 years, and some parts are already six years old.
Then it gets ditched into the Pacific. Glad we spent the money, aren't you? ;')

I think the problem was to much effort was put into "Internationalizing" the space station. It should of been our effort with allowing whoever wanted to participate and procuring the best equipment. The space station or something of its elk is necessary in my opinion. If we are to take moon traveling to the next step. Getting rid of space junk may become a very big issue within the next 5-10 years.
