So what is the problem with putting an excerpt to one's own site? I see others do it? I ask, as a person new to this place. Note I put (vanity)next to the thread. I don't have a vested interest other than my personal concern with a current and relevant issue.

If their posting history mirrors yours and continues to do so, it's only a matter of time before they get booted off the site.

In the course of reading the documentation about FreeRepublic.com, you may recall that it exists for the purpose of discussion. Therefore, you can understand that some people get peeved when others use it selfishly as nothing more than a gateway to troll for hits to their personal websites. In fact, you don't have to look very far to see where the founder wrote, "Free Republic is a noncommerical site. Please do not post advertising, solicitations, spam or any other commercial messages. Do not spam us with links to your own site. No one likes spam."

When your only posts are "articles" which consist of a few lines excerpted from longer writings on your own, linked site -- and no responses to people who post to you -- it's understandable that people might think you fall into the "trolling for hits" category.

If you post your writings in total (as opposed to excerpting) and respond to those who post to you, people might not be so quick to think you're only here to promote your site.

If your intent is to engage in discussion here, know that I mean no offense. On the contrary, I'm just trying to make your FR experience more enjoyable.
