Our dogs were digging for the moles this year, too. The cat caught two or three of them and then "returned" them to us on the rug or the porch!
You can put out diazanon (sp?) for the grubs, but you better buy it before the end of December when they quit selling it for good. Unfortunately, it will kill everything, including your earthworms.
Hubby didn't have the reaction I thought he would - he asked when are we getting the cat?
diazanon is not something I really want to put out.
