Would you like to know of another impact "failure" : the impact-splash theory of earth-moon formation? It is highly hyped as a religious tenet, but has fatal flaws : statistical probability of the right hit on the proto-earth's terminator is far too small of an area for the mars-sized body to impact; and, we wouldn't even BE here as water rich life if a mars had hit the earth, even 4.4 billion years ago. Remember the SL9 comet fragments that hit Jupiter? It would have been a GAMMA RAY burster all over the planet = NO water(and other delicate molecules)would have survived on a surface hotter than the sun. So, where did our OCEANS come from?
