I don't think I missed the point of the Church Lady character. Of course, 'she' was an extreme stereotype of the busy-body holier-than-thou miss-goody-two-shoes Christian. My question was more directed at wondering whether anything muslim/islamic gets made fun of in the same way. For example, are there any skits featuring women in burkas singing songs making fun of domineering men? Has mohammed ever been mentioned at all (as I'm sure that Jesus has)? That's what I was getting at.
muslims are notoriously thin-skinned. Unless SNL is prepared to run a little sandpaper over that thin skin, they're playing it safe, in my view.
I've seen skits mocking the Taliban, Al-Quaida, Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein-- extremely public examples of Muslims. No, I don't remember there being a Church-Lady-type Muslim character on the show, but maybe that's just because Tina and Lorne like their heads to remain on their shoulders.
