And what should happen to the hoodlums who threw bottles, cups, drinks, food and fists at the players and patrons including officials at the game???
odd that you didn't even mention the instigators of this riot

Just because people purchase tickets to attend sporting events, that doesn't give them the right to act like TOTAL UNADULTERATED MORONIC CRIMINALS!
does the term "assault and battery" ring a bell? LOL

btw fyi I am a Lakers fan and we don't even allow aholes at Lakers games, thank you.

I trust you are referring to the "fans"(hoodlums) who started this riot...

Great article in the detroit free press by MICHAEL ROSENBERG

Blame Artest for the entire mess; he started by going into stands

Go away, Ron Artest. Go far, far away.

Last week, you were an amusing circus act.

For much of Friday night, you were the best player in the building.

And then you were something beyond Idiot and several miles past Nuts.

And now you need to disappear -- not for a week, not for a month, and not for any amount of time that can be defined in conventional basketball terms. We're not measuring this in games missed. It goes beyond that.

An intense regular-season game morphed into one of the ugliest nights in sports history Friday, and it's all because of Artest, the Pacers forward. Without him, there is no riot at the Pistons-Pacers game. Period.

Yep, you can pin the fights squarely on Artest, who is the actual thug in this mess. He deserved every single thing that happened to him, sorry tis true. And for anyone thinking "oh, DETROIT, I see..." the game was NOT played in Detroit and the majority of those fans were not from there either.

They probably will, and they have some pretty nasty video to back it up. This morning on ESPN, they were playing it as it happened live with the announcers comments and all. It was several minutes long (I haven't looked at the link on this thread yet).

I have zero sympathy for the fans on the court that got punched. They never should have been there and you're supposed to be subject to arrest for running onto the court, just like running onto a football or baseball field. If a guy runs onto the field of play, I say he's a willing participant to whatever pummeling he gets. And what kind of moron comes right at a huge strong professional athlete with twice their reach and over twice their strength (the fat mexican kid comes to mind, big surprise he dropped like a stone when a basketball player clocked him on the court).

As for a player running up into the stands, that's every bit as stupid. When he does that, any credibility and talk of self-defense goes right out the window. It's better to call time-out, point out the offenders to security, and let them do their job. You may not get justice but it sure beats getting suspended and labeled a problem child.

Artest has got to have rocks in his head the size of Gibraltar.

I'm thinking that any player that went up into the stands should be fined and face large suspensions (including a possible ban for the rest of the season). As for the people throwing things, they should be prosecuted. It's at the very least assault and battery.

Players know the NBA rules; You do not to go into the stands after a fan. PERIOD.
Understand?

It boggles the mind that a multi-million dollar a year player can't control himself. the fan threw a cup, and Artest starts throwing PUNCHES.

It also boggles the mind that ANY conservative would defend these gang-banger/punk-rap wanna-be's.

In the past, Artest has smashed a camera, thrown a TV monitor, etc, etc. So, this isn't his first go around with "the law".

Btw, the guy Artest went after for throwing a drink (in a cup) at him? He was holding a cup, that means he didn't just throw a drink, that means the thug attacked a totally innocent fan who did nothing.

And to whatever dude said something about a "fat Mexican" on the court, the guy was an Arab, not a Mexican.

Be sure not to let the facts get in the way of your opinion. You stated, "odd that you didn't even mention the instigators of this riot"

I stated in my text;

" I would like to see everyone, including players, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. As far as the NBA goes, they better come down hard on the players involved. At the very least, suspension for the rest of the season. If you think for even a second the Detroit fans should be the only folks prosecuted, you must be a Pacers fan."

if you're going to comment on a post, pay attention to what you read.
