I kept wondering if the mother was dead before they took the baby,or was she alive and aware all through this...

U.S. Attorney Todd Graves said Lisa M. Montgomery, 36, of Melvern, Kan., was charged with kidnapping resulting in death in the slaying of 23-year-old Bobbie Jo Stinnett, who was found nearly dead Thursday in her Skidmore home. Paramedics tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Rush had an interesting take on this and said it should be difficult for the abortionist to keep referring to it as a fetus when it was a baby taken from the womb!

Friday, December 17, 2004 CRIMENETDAILY Baby cut from womb found alive by police Unborn missing child was missing after mother found slain

A child cut from the womb of a slain eight-months-pregnant woman has been found alive after police in Missouri issued an Amber Alert.

Authorities sent out the alert after the body of Bobbi Jo Stinnett, 23, was discovered yesterday in Skidmore, Mo., by her mother.

Police in neighboring Kansas, who made the discovery through a telephone tip, are questioning a man and woman at the home where the baby was found.

Six FBI agents are on their way to the home from Kansas City, the Associated Press reported.

Earlier today, Nodaway County Sheriff Bill Espey in Missouri said doctors who examined the mother believed the baby probably was alive but would be in danger because of being one month premature.

"Someone was wanting a baby awful bad," he said.

Authorities said the crime scene in the northwest Missouri town of 500 had no visible signs of struggle. Police had been looking for a person with blond hair driving a red vehicle.

Stinnett, expecting her first child, worked in Maryville, Mo., at a motor factory.

A neighbor, Bill Dragoo, told the St. Joseph News-Press Stinnett and her husband "didn't bother anybody."

"It blows my mind that this happened," he said. "She was such a shy person. They didn't deserve this."

OMG. I had NOT read that before. I caught bits and pieces of an update on Fox&Friends this morning. Something about how this Lisa Montgomery actually miscarried, carried out the crime, then called her husband to tell him she'd delivered a baby. That's all I caught, I may not have heard it all exactly correct.

Just weird and sick.

Oh my gosh. I just this morning told Mr. Peach that I prayed that poor woman was dead before her baby was taken from her. This is truly one of the most sick crimes I've ever heard.

Also, according to this CNN report two teenage kids of the fathers accompanied him to go pick up the woman after she called him that she'd "had a baby". Those poor kids.

Another thing I didn't know is that the Amber Alert was delayed in being called because "the case did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert because authorities did not know the child's hair or eye color or any other details". (From that same article)

And I hadn't heard this either:

Espey said he had gone to a local member of Congress after he was told that the case did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert because authorities did not know the child's hair or eye color or any other details. He said the alert was delayed until about midnight Thursday. "I'm a little disappointed that it happened like it did," he said. "All of us standing here feel like this baby, even though it was taken a month premature, we had a live baby. I feel like that should justify an Amber Alert."

I'll say. Maybe I'm just not up to speed on this aspect of the story but I wonder what member of Congress he contacted and what strings were pulled in order to get the Amber alert issued.
