They do sometimes get used to people keeping an eye on them.
My mother in law's birds are used to people looking out the window at them.
Momma bird just looks back.
Daddy gets slightly more annoyed though, stands up, huffs his wings and puffs his feathers out.
They get used to people. I have a couple of woodpeckers that don't even bother to leave the feeders when I approach to fill them until I am almost close enough to touch them. Then they watch me from a very nearby branch. They know who looks after them. My dad had some that used to watch for him from his garage roof every evening because he always goes out to fill the feeders about the same time every evening.
