Hello, Ringy! What loddy said - believe her. I still buy stuff for people I love who have everything or buy what they want or need, but I get little token things, like flowers that they'll enjoy, or scented soaps or lotions that most of us don't buy for themselves. I also make mixes of things (I bought a little book with all sorts of recipes) where you layer the dry ingredients in a decorative jar, then put the recipe for the rest of the add-ins, like eggs, oil, milk, whatever, and how to prepare it. Just things they can use, and not have to be concerned that it's something they'll stash in a drawer or closet and forget about.
I'm with you - pretty much anything I get my parents now is edible (jams, coffee, chocolates), burnable (wood or candles) or small like a music CD. I don't even like getting much myself these days besides candles. If we need it, we'll go buy it. Like Loddy says, immediately - lol!
Thank you. I think I'll take your and Loddy's advice. It's an unnecessary worry I've given myself. She's getting older, and I guess I'm always worried and looking for signs that she isn't feeling well or giving up or something.
I don't see any of that. She's just as contrary and bossy as ever. She just says she doesn't want anything. She'll let me know if she does. :) I'll just believe her and stop looking for hidden meanings. (I hope).
