Our small town got around the problem by donating the nativity scene to a private group about twenty years ago, which displays it in the town park (a central feature of the town btw). It is the only scene there, right at the large gazebo. It is beautiful, lit and visited by a lot of families.
as daughter is still in college
We discovered too late that liberal indoctrination is heaviest on young females, plus we weren't aware just how bad it had infilitrated all colleges......FYI

We have a huge county park here with a sizable lake. Every Christmas, the county supplies the electricity and anyone can put up decorations. Some are quite small as in the memorials to someone deceased. Some are quite elaborate such as the floating ones on the lake. Folks drive for miles to take the tour. The only one that offends me is one the gay/lesbian organization on campus puts up. Why can't they just leave Christmas alone in the politicking?

Yes, we are aware of the liberal tendencies of the universities. I'm not sure how we could get around all that in IL and she goes to U of I. We try to give daughter balance in perspectives when she's at home. She's a bright kid and generally makes good choices. So, like all parents we do our best, pray a lot and hope for the best. :^)

(It's my right to publically celebrate Christmas and state my faith in Christ. At least for now.....)
