Good morning, and Happy Thanksgiving! I'd rather be staying home today, but family obligations call. We're going over to my husband's sister's mother-in-law's home for dinner. None of us care for her much, she's quite a snob, but she is gracious enough to have us all over for a holiday meal. What I don't care for is that she does have a rather snobbish attitude. Her sons are actually worse. My sis-in-law's husband is the kind of guy who like to bait people with snide comments, and then sit back and smirk when someone rises to the bait. Most of the time i don't take the bait, but occasionally I can't help but shoot back. He is, of course, a liberal, as is his brother and mother. The three of them were going on and on about how awful Ronald Reagan and the Bush family are. This was shortly after Reagan died, and I must say, I did get my hackles up.
I don't know what they're going to have to say today since Kerry lost. I will avoid gloating, that won't help with the atmosphere. I've decided that if they start in on how awful Bush is, I'll ask them to please not talk about politics today, that we're all there to celebrate Thanksgiving. If that doesn't work, I may just leave. I don't know if my husband will come along with me, but he may have to. We're taking my car, I have the keys. I guess I just get a little fed up with the crap.
Thing is, although I voted for Bush, I really do disagree with things he's done and not done (don't want to get into that here today - it IS Thanksgiving, after all) but I don't want to get into a political discussion with this family. They're not actually discussions, they're snide comments and general nastiness about Bush and other conservatives.

Sean Hannity said to tell those people something like "Bush won, Kerry lost, get over it". I know, I know, easier said than done and thank goodness for once, we don't have to face our lib relatives today.
Conservatives outnumber liberals with us, so that helps. We have a number of liberal rubes that will say amazingly dumb things. I'm going to try humour with them today, but, I will probably lose it a couple of times if I'm not careful.
Hey, I disagree with some things Bush has done and is doing as well.......but the alternative is so ghastly I can't even think about it.
I think it's called Sharia......
So have a great day, report back....see ya later.
Usually we take two cars.
Good luck with it, Cheri.
I wouldn't be able to handle that gracefully. I would definitely be looking for an out.
I know Cheri. It's a vexing time we live in. I just think that President Bush with all his flaws is so much better than a Kerry. Kerry would have the US on their knees before the United Nothings in a flash! What can I say, his mother was french so he probably had his white flag in his pocket all along. Truth is, there are MANY MANY things that are beyond ANY man's hands now.!!
