I saw Cream in their next-to-the-last U.S. tour in PHX. It was in a "theater-in-the-round," where the stage was supposed to rotate . . . except it broke. We were at an angle, right behind Ginger Baker, which was fine with me, as I am a drummer. Anyway, it was a tremendous night. We could only see Bruce and Clapton when they walked out to sing---but most of the time they hung back by their Marshall stacks when they played.
Indeed, I had the great privilege of seeing Hendrix (twice); Cream; Led Zep (once, and they were bad); Vanilla Fudge; Santana (twice); and even Iron Butterfly. Ah, those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end.
