McCain and Guillani are not electable. Neither one could carry the south. Let's have some names.

If the democrats put up Hillary, we really have no choice beyond Condi Rice.

Actually, compared to a Clinton/Anyone ticket, I believe that a Giulliani/Rice ticket would be a winner. The South is an interesting area in this case, as most will not vote for a woman for President, or a liberal yankee, and Hillary is both even if she is an adopted New Yorker. Jillian is still a Yankee, but he's one who is more respected down here in the South since 9/11. Racism isn't so rampant in the South anymore that Condie's color will tilt the vote. Certainly in some areas, but not wide spread enough to overcome the dislike Hillary has built up. The only two issues I see with Giulliani are his health problems he's had and some personal failings that might be used as ammo.
In the end, I don't see much about Giulliani/Rice that I don't like against Hillary, or most Dumbocrats for that matter. The ticket undercuts a lot of the Dumbocrat base, especially with careful appointment of people during W2.

Well, it seems like being generous with the cabinet positions and ambassadorships won us some votes yesterday. I say we ride that horse as far as it will take us.

Unless I am mistaken, and I sure hope to hell I ma, Rice is pro-choice.
What's wrong with our own mitten Congressman Mike Rogers? Wonderfully electable.

Watts would be an excellent choice! Watts/Rogers '08! Rogers/Watts '08! Either way, I'd be happy.

Giuliani/Rice--to pro-choicers. Not quite the way I would try to galvanize the Evangelical vote.

Jeb Bush will win in a walk. Despite his recent protestations, the pressure exerted upon him starting in late 2005 will be enormous. Why?
- He inherits a structural fundraising advantage that no one else even remotely comes close to matching.
- He inherits a structural feet-on-the-street volunteer advantage in almost all 50 states that no one else even remotely comes close to matching.
- He has a winning last name.
- His term as Governor ends in 2006, just at the right time to launch the two-year campaign required.
- He holds an almost impenetrable electoral college advantage. Think about it. If Florida starts out as a given, a Republican needs only to get 30 more EVs from Colorado, Ohio, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
- He speaks very fluent spanish (much better than W) and is married to an hispanic woman, which should help in AZ, NM, and NV.
Of course, the wildcard is how things will be going in Iraq and in the economy in 2007 and 2008. If not well, of course, the public probably will not want to vote for another Bush. However, both situations should be net positives, IMHO, setting the stage for quite a bit of pressure on Jeb to run.

Check out Tim Pawlenty the governor of Minnesota. He's bright, young, telegenic, and conservative. Of course he has to get re-elected in 2006 first, although I don't think that will be a problem.

If both sides have the same stance, the issue becomes a moot point. Any Evangelicals that decided to sit out the election could easily be made up with the undercut of the Dem base.

Except it wouldn't just be the Evangelicals. I'm not Evangelical and I wouldn't vote for either of them, neither would a single conservative that I know. Giuliani would have made a great AG; Rice will be great at anything she does. They still won't get the pro-life vote.
Its high time Republicans started backing candidates that actually reflect the core values of the party. There are plenty of great candidates out there, electable candidates. Why settle for anything less?

Jeb Bush? Love him, but don't you think this would just seem too much like a monarchy? Would just give the left too much to criticize.
