Twas the Day After Thanksgiving

My alarm goes off
I hop out of bed
Im prepared for this day
Ready for what lies ahead
After a hearty breakfast
and a quick hot shower
I warm up the car
And depart within the hour
The traffic is light
The sky is still dark
I reach my destination
and search for a place to park
I get out of my car
and walk up to the store
There was already a long line
A hundred? Maybe more
I stood in line
and patiently waited
This would be grueling,
I anticipated
The doors opened slowly
We push our way through
The time has come
to do what we came to do
I pull out my list
and grab a shopping cart
I head to the toy aisle,
the perfect place to start
Five kids to buy for
Four daughters, one son
Katie, Carrie, Karla,
Penelope and Jason
Finding Nemo
and Playstation two
Baby clothes for Katie
In pink, yellow, and blue
The latest Barbie doll
A toy gun
A couple of video games
My kids shopping is done
Time to shop for Hank,
my husband whom I adore
I head over to the mens section
To look around and explore
Top of line power drill
A tool belt and wrench set
A brand new business suit
Im not finished yet
A DVD player for dad
A pair of earrings for mom
A purse for Aunt Dorrie
A gold watch for Uncle Tom
Im almost through
A few more items to get
Christmas cards, eggnog,
and tree ornaments
I go to the checkout line
To pay and leave
I hope everyone loves
All the gifts they'll receive
I lugged all my bags
out to my car
I wished that I hadnt
had to park so far
I drove home,
tired and weary
The traffic was heavy
The weather was dreary
I hobbled into the house
And hid all the gifts
I went back to bed
Wake me up when its Christmas!

Good morning, Sam.
As I was reading the poem of the day, I could not help but think of the Wild Bird Centre. :-)
Thanks for all.
I am going to have to learn what player I need to listen to the tunes when I am using my laptop. I am using it more these days until I get the Mac updated.
