I do not see why you people have to make an issue out of her death. not everyone was disrepsectful, but as you can see some were.
I am not a political person - I'm not a liberal. but come on - why do you have to make fun of the dead? would you like it if I posted about your dead mother or brother so that others could lampoon and crack jokes about her political belifs?
do you have any respect for her family?
I was quite saddened to see people who never met this girl judge her. I dont care if you disagree with her political, grow up.
Somethings you just have to ignore and take the highroad - making fun of a tragic event serves no purpose other than to highlight your own idiocy.
most of the "disrespectful" remarks centered on her activity in life, not her manner of death.
since the report of her death brought up her political agitation, that's fair game.
moreover, out of a paltry 22 replies, only THREE were actually flippant.
grow a thicker skin.
You're that troll who likes to sign up and pretend to know someone from an article, aren't you?
Last time I knew, you signed in as Im-ho-ra?
From the link:
"Later, when the group was gathered at the Islamic Center of Central Missouri, Iraq native Shakir Hamoodi addressed a smaller crowd. As he spoke, a car whizzed by and a man yelled "Bomb Iraq. Kill Saddam.""
Apart from your reason for posting here, do you know if she was in sympathy with Saddam and his motley crew or in sympathy with the majority of Iraquis who cheered when we entered Iraq? If the latter, wouldn't it have been better theatre to simulate a torture chamber on a float, complete with batteries and wires, chains and hot pokers and broadcasting the simulated screams of those being tortured?
If the former, she was making a mockery of our brave military who were willing to give their lives to end Sadam's regime and reign of terror on his own people and to prevent the consequences of Saddam's hatred for the west from being exported elsewhere.
I don't care who you are, man, woman or child. If you encourage our enemy, you have become a warrior yourself. If the street demonstrations and mock bombing were designed to divide Americans in an effort to bring pressure to bear to end our military involvement overseas, (ala Vietnam), you embolden the enemy and are more likely to cause the deaths of those on who's behalf you are you trying to protect.
I think sufficient restraint, understanding and compassion was shown on the thread you linked, considering the fact that many people here have relatives on the battlefield.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Your cousin was exploiting the deaths of others for her own political idealism. Should that have been ignored?
What say you?
Compare the people on Free Republic to Democratic Underground.
When the news came out that (Democratic Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards's wife) Elizabeth Edwards had breast cancer, FReepers sent out prayers to her. You can check that out yourself.
On the DU site, they wished Laura Bush would get cancer.
That's a good example of the difference between them and us, and don't forget it.
By the way, I'm very sorry for your loss.
Does this one seem familiar?
I just read the thread. There were only 4 or 5 people making jokes. More people than that expressed sympathy. This will happen on any public forum.
