Thnk you for your sweet note last night. Sorry I did not get back to you; after I had my popcorn I suddenly felt utterly, totally exhausted. It had been a long and difficult week.
We are thankful that Joe left us on the Feast of All Soul's. We are also very thankful for the lesson in love & devotion that my husband's mother showed all of us as she took such tender, loving care of him in his final months; and of course, we are thankful for the many wonderful memories of Joe.

I think of Ev when I take care of the kids like I did last night. I think of a Mom back home wondering how her boy is doing, what he's getting to eat, whether there's a friendly NCO to say: "Evening, guys. What can I do for you tonight?" And ask them about their jobs, and their shifts, and their careers (tests/skill level upgrades... etc).
And someone to tell them: "You guys be safe and have a great night!"
It sounds sappy, but it really does help the airmen be more upbeat about working 12 hour days that start at 8pm. Someone really cares. And lets them know.

If Arafat told us that CBS was dead, I suspect I would believe it. And if Arafat told us CBS was on life-support, after looking at the evidence, we would HAVE to believe it.
Personally, I think both CBS and Arafat are just brain-dead, and waiting for the plug to be pulled.

No, it doesn't sound sappy; and God bless you for doing that.
There was a Mom back home at 3:00 this morning wondering how her boy was doing.............he had trouble sleeping and had to get up at 2:00 & leave for drill .........having had very little sleep after a long and emotionally draining day.
No news is good news so I'm assuming he got there okay.
When he was in training I DID used to wonder about things like that........whether he had someone to talk to about stuff, etc.
You're a good man, Johnny.

I'm just a cook.
As your son is mentoring a recruit in Basic Training, someone is mentoring Ev. Count on it.
It's what NCOs do.
Prayers continue for him while he serves.

Hi Bev. The other day when Sarah and I were in Home Depot we saw this lavalamp night light. There were two in a pack. I made some remark about how neat there were. Sarah bought them for me.

Our hallway and bathroom is now lite in a 70ish -glitter-glow.
Far out!! :-) Remember that stupid term?

Oh yes. My step sister who partied a little too hardy in the 60s still says it. Also says - she is getting "bad vibes". What a dope head.
