Word For The Day, Thursday, November 4, 2004
Thursday, November 4, 2004 | Slip 18

Posted on 11/04/2004 4:17:28 AM PST by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

New WFTD:

Antinomy– noun

This word is pronounced an-tin-emee

Etymology: French or German.

1) Opposition of one law or rule to another law or rule: contradiction within a law.
2) obs An opposing law or rule of any kind: a law that contradicts itself.
3) (a)a contradiction between two philosophical principles each of which is taken to be true or between inferences correctly drawn from such principles.
(b) A statement embodying an antimony: paradox.
4) An apparent or real opposition, contradiction, contrast or conflict.

I hate unloading the dishwasher, and I don't know why. Putting stuff in doesn't bother me.

How did you get all that done today and FReep, too? Do you have a twin sister or something?

Cyber told me it was a Tom Turkey, and they don't have eggs. I asked him how he knew it was a Tom Turkey. He's thinking about it right now.

What kind of a fowl produces such a big egg? Do you papier mache it? Do you glue things together? How do you make a big egg? Do you save your egg shells? Do you have ants?

Are your plants healthy? Egg shells are good for plants, you know, calcium and all. Just ask my mother. She took a couple of dozen whole eggs and put them into the plants. Couldn't figure out the lovely aroma for about a month.

You and CG have a ball, Laura. It sounds as if has been a rough month for y'all.

Give CG a hug for me.

You don't have to make a decision to be sane or insane in here. Some days we're sane; some days we're not. Mostly not.

I like your box of cereal. A+ for making the subbie laugh!

Do you want to be on the ping list? We're here every day come rain or shine . . .

"Are you a Pisces, too?"

I am a Canine.

...but I eat all the pisceses I can get.

So since "you are what you eat," I guess I am also a squirrel, gopher, tweetiebird, bug, and whatever they put into this Kibble.

(actually, I am a Typing Canine)

I've got to be at a jobsite in southwest Medina county, so I'll do the commissary trip on the way home-back later!
