I just wish McKellan had made Gandalf so rough towards Pippin. AT worst, Gandalf saw Pippin as a wayward child who may or may not do the right thing.

then there was that business with the palantir...I remember when my friends and I first read it, our thoughts were that maybe Gandalf set Pippin up.

I should say HAD NOT been so rough towards Pippin when they met with Denethor. I wanted to yell at Gandalf for throwing the poor hobbit back liek he did.
