I have a vague memory from my one year in the Girl Scouts (age 10 or 11) of every member of our troop having a navy blue wool poncho, which I suppose we all had to make (fortunately, my mother's an excellent seamstress) and wear as part of our uniforms. If only I'd kept it! I'd finally be fashionable.
