havetuh teach 7th graders how tuh use a dictionary tomorrow... they have no clue...
went over the reading syllabus... found out thegirl and theboy are werkin' outta 8th grade books... that's pretty depressin' really...
Reason number 1,230,564 why I wish I could homeschool my kids.
I'm just providing supplemental learning whenever I can to pick up the slack. Although, to the school's credit, they really push the kids harder than most.
Matthew learned that in 3rd grade. This year (fifth grade) he got into the nitty gritty more...but entry words and guide words...he's known that for a couple of years.
I left abruptly today...Celeste called and says "I got free tickets to the fair!" So off we all went. It was a lot of fun. Talked to the Army National Guard, but not the black hawk unit.
Steve came home just as my bread was finished baking in the machine (yes, I left it baking while I left for the fair!) He said he walked in and said to himself "Mmmmm! Fresh baked bread!"
He's doing good. Limping around the house, no crutches. I told him "Quit walking like that...you'll throw your back out!" So he quit! He was babying it. It's still pretty swollen, and purple from the bottom under his arch, all the way up the outside and around. Looks really awful.
