The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The commander actually took me by the arm and thanked my so earnestly for my letter. Made me so happy it meant so much!

Oh I'm getting weepy! How exciting! WTG 2J!!!

It was really really neat. You know, I had a mental picture of these guys and how they were and the mental picture was pretty close to the reality. Very nice. Very honorable individuals.

The pilot that flew over my house this last time, the one that made a beeline for my house, is an American Indian (not surprising here in Oklahoma). He escorted me around and I got to talk to him openly about the circling, about how they swerved over first and then started circling. I talked to him about 9/11...

I can't wait to get the pictures...gonna light a fire under Celeste right now!

Matthew told me last night that he wasn't in any rush to turn 10 (meaning he doesn't feel the need to grow up any faster) because 9 has been such a great year so far! (He just turned 9 in August! LOL)

Made me feel so good.

Hot farina is soothing to a sore throat...

I had a low carb tortilla with refried beans and a diet rite for supper last night and it felt like I was swallowing nails and battery acid.

Farina is not exactly low carb, but it sure is soothing.

Likewise, my FRiend.

Another thing that was so neat, the commander was leaving as we were driving in. We sat in the parking lot waiting for the other scouts and Celeste and her family to get there. I guess he was curious what we were doing so he came over and checked us out. We told him the story and his whole face went from being stern and aurthoritative to absolutely delighted. He said he was just on his way home, but then he parked and went back inside with us! He stayed with us the entire time, visiting with the dads (every single dad came with his son...a homeschool pack) and with each of the boys. It was really something. He abandoned going home and stayed with us the entire hour we were there.

Yep...we were pretty glad of that. Most the time it's just the moms that bring the boys to anything...but I suspect wild horses couldn't keep the dads away from this! LOL

We're getting ready to go to the library. They're featuring a reading time with two real live poodles. The boys want to see the poodles. LOL

I find the comparison offensive! LOL ;-)

My folks have two toy (not teacup) poodles. They are the SWEETEST and smartest animals I have ever seen!

I want one real bad. But the woman that sells them (and has a great local reputation in the area for taking great pains to breed healthy animals) charges $500 each for them. Yes...my folks got two from her.

It'll likely be a LONG time ASG before I get one! LOL
