The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Thanks Corin! That means more than you know!

It was just a hoot to see the jedis and all those other boys clambering around inside those Black Hawks! (There were two of them in the hanger.)

I got pics of both of them in flight gear too...helmets and everything.

That stuff means a lot to them, 2J. Your letters are not something they would really get all that often, and it would really matter, and it would be something that would be shared with the whole company. Many people may think and agree with you about them, but not many take the time to express it.

Like my ship in Astoria... we didn't get all that many letters or anything from people around there. We only got a few, and the ones we got were always posted on the bulletin board or passed around so everybody could see it.

They appreciate being noticed, and being appreciated for what they do. It matters. :-)

I'm just beaming. I mean, I feel sick in my chest, but I'm so tickled it's keeping my adrenaline up or something.

Well, I'm loggin' off...they should be taking off now.

See you guys tomorrow...Steve has a training day at work.

Thanks for the tips! I dashed over the King Co office in Bellevue and picked up a button and a pin and was sporting the pin back at the office. I'm such a coward, though, because now I'm off of work for 2 weeks. I don't have to face the music!

I really stuck my neck out and posted that George Will column that was in today's PI on the wall in my cube. We'll see if it's still there when I get back to the office on November 2nd. I wouldn't do this type of thing, necessarily, but if I have to put up with looking at the "Presidential Mispeak" calendar by the coffeepot and the article that says "Bush/Cheney flipflops cost American Soldiers their Lives" every time I decide to walk down the hallway, then I'm gonna make my own voice heard doggone it!

Besides, if I find myself unemployed at the end of this, there's a great freeper network to find me a new job, right? I hate that job anyway, lol, so they'd be doing me a favor! ;)

Sheesh, I wonder if my parents have any idea they raised such a subversive rebel....

I don't suppose any of you know anyone who's going to the Bush-Cheney rally at the UW tomorrow....?

The local movie reviewers, the same ones that gave FOTR,TTT and ROTK, about 3 'popcorn bags' since 'it was, like, long and complicated" gave this one 4 and 5 'popcorn bags' out of 5. They said no matter what your viewpoint was, something was sure to offend you.

Are you going to the rally?

Well, I think only 2 people noticed. One was a good friend of mine who said "you don't fit the stereotype." Which of course made me wonder what the "stereotype" is, but...whatever. The other guy mentioned how "rare" I am in this town/this part of the state (wasn't sure how to take that one either) and mentioned how in his neighborhood there are tons of Kerry/Edwards signs and only one for Bush/Cheney. Too bad I'm so slow at thinking of comebacks or I would have made some crack about the fact that that's because if anyone puts up a Bush/Cheney sign in their yard it either gets stolen or vandalized.

I'm a little disappointed, because the pin I got was different from the one they have at the official website and it's much harder to see/read. I think I'll order the better one from the website, even if it does take a while to get it.

Anyway, so far no adverse reactions.

I'm going to try to go to the rally. I hope there will be a good group of people!

Never in a million years would I have ever imagined such a thing

Uhmm... you've never seen any of the Barbie/G.I. Joe stop-motion animations that have been around for years? You need to get out more...

At the fair, they had a pin that said "I was FOR John Kerry, before I was against him!"

LOL.

I love your pasture sign!!

I do have bumper stickers, the magnetic kind. I'd ordered them from the web a month or two ago, so I can take them off whenever I park.

This morning I parked on the street next to a car that had Bush/Cheney stickers on the back and at least 4-5 signs in the windows. I was so impressed, I left them a note on their windshield thanking them for showing their support so strongly. I hope they didn't mind, but it just lifted my spirits to much to see that when I'm so bombarded with sKerry garbage everywhere I look.

They're what AV geeks make for fun... I think I saw my first one waaaaaay back in college, at a "twisted animation" festival.
