Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
My cell phone died and I'm getting a new phone tomorrow. It's also a digital camera. Little bitty thing. I won't have to lug my camera around any more:')
Been awhile since we heard from them. I hope they are just barn building and nothing wrong.
Run away!
Sorry doll... Now I've had a couple "mellow in a bottle"s. ;~D We're going to bed early. :~D
I'm sorry, I did not mean to imply that the horse would not have turn out. I'm sure he would. I guess what I'm trying to say, is I think the lady was trying to impress me with all that stuff.
Becky
I have one of those! It's lots of fun but the picture quality ain't nothing to write home about.
AH - I see. Well, if it were me, I'd be glad he was going to a good place.... Still, even if that isn't what you meant, there are plenty of boarding stables where there is little turnout, or turnout means a couple hours into an arena or a round pen. I'd want BIG pasture and room to run.
Yeah, me too:)
Any way, I'm going to get more info in the morning when they call for directions, before this goes any further.
But hey, it's a good reason to be late for work. I'll get to ride:)
Becky
Hey Cindy, I was reading through the posts and saw yours about having trouble with the bucking mare. I, too, had a horse that I absolutely loved, he was my first baby. I raised him up to be respectful on the ground, sent him to a professional trainer and he came back as good as gold. I didn't ride him nearly enough, especially since he was just a 2 year old, and one day he bucked my fat butt off just as pretty as you please. He was bucking like a rodeo horse. I never got my confidence back, stiffened my upper lip and sold him. He's at a barrel horse trainer in Oklahoma who loves him, as he was bred for speed. I hated selling him but it was for the best. I'm keeping in touch with the buyers and watching his progress. He's running in futurities and doing very well.
Well, speaking selfishly, It'd be fine with me if he is still there in June ;~D
The girls got the smaller pasture but the geldings have a huge long one. It still wasn't big enough for Okie yesterday. I was afraid he was going to run into hot wire but he would stop on a dime and head back the other way. Gonna cost me a shoe I guess but he was "free"

Scroll down to the 4 year old horses, my horse is Juma Gem. If you click on the pic, you'll get a bigger picture.
Well mine much older and usually not a problem. I had almost put it out of my mind. Can't wait for more daylight. I can't ride her a lot right now but I have someone that can. Just going to have to see how it goes.
LOL...I'd love for him to be here in June too, for the same reason:) I'm pretty proud of him.
Becky
If you have someone who can ride her regularly then you are way ahead of me. I was trying to ride a 2 year old once a month. duhhhhhh
Oh my gosh, I know LG:)
I may have seen this horse run before.
Becky
Too funny! If you see him run let me know!! They promised me that they would let me know if they were running near me so I can come watch.
Is Juma Gem a common name because I think I saw another horse by that name on another webb site?
I usually ride Sarah Lee two-three times a week but definately once a week unless horrible weather or something.
There were several LG horses running this summer at some of the jackpots I was going to to watch my girls run.
