Not a current event for the classroom, but very current for my husband and I: "I will plaudit the police department if they shoot the idiot who broke into my husband's SUV yesterday and stole his briefcase, GPS,Digital camera and binoculars.......... "

Did anyone try looking into the trash bins closest to the scene of the crime......Usually, crooks take what they want and toss the rest quickly.

Oh no!
Same thing happened to my boss the other week. Replacing everything that was in the briefcase has been a pain. And the police said the likelyhood of finding the guy was nil.
A+

That is horrible, Whyisa! Cops should chop off a few fingers on the way to jail, too.
I'm sure I've told all y'alls that I've been through fires, floods, squalls, blizzards, tornadoes (the kind that lift you in the air, not the kind you eat) -- and I know this is very sensitive to everyone -- but last night, we got a real live hurricane. My first. It came in off the Sea of Cortez. No damage, though. But we had rain in the mountains which we so badly needed.
Now we have flood warnings, but there are so many basins around here that a flood warning is a joke.
