I know she'll never do it, but I would LOVE to see this done to get CBS to take action against Dan Rather.
PATRICIA HEATON, star of Everybody Loves Raymond should go on strike from the CBS hit show until Dan Rather does one of the following: (a) release the original memos in question for independent scrutiny or (b)if he doesn't have the originals, he should get the source to release the originals or reveal the source or (c)retract his report and apologize to President Bush or (d)resign or get fired.
Patricia Heaton is one of the few Republicans in Hollywood. More importantly, she is on a very popular and critically acclaimed comedy. She has repeatedly won the Best Actress Emmy and the show has won Best Comedy. Everybody Loves Raymond is an important commodity to CBS.
When forced to choose between Patricia Heaton and that old coot Dan Rather, who do you think they're going to choose? Rather is due to go out to pasture soon anyway. Why risk losing someone like Heaton?
Now, I don't think Heaton will do this and I don't blame her. It is hard enough to be a Republican in Hollywood and it isn't fair for me to ask her to risk her career over this. Furthermore, most conservatives in Hollywood aren't the type to get on soap boxes. Still, I would LOVE to see it happen. CBS is being very obstinate. Anyone else have creative ideas for getting the attention of CBS?
I know Patricia Heaton's cousin is a freeper.......
I *think* this is Raymond's last season.
It will never happen.
Ugh. Let's not go down the road of pimping out our own supporters to put their own careers in jeopardy. She can chime in if she wants without pulling job action...
Uh ... no. This has nothing to do with her. Besides, it'd be terribly unprofessional of her to do something like that. People ought to leave her out of it.
She should honor her contract, and any underlying moral obligations to her employer.
I think the best thing right now is to sit back and relax about it. There's been so much coverage on this that is dwarfs the initial intent, and that was to undermine and embarrass the president. Instead the story is about CBS and Dan Rather.
The DNC obviously was coordinating this as they plan to put this in their upcoming ads. Tom Harkin is already stumping about it. Let them have their day...because each day they look more and more pathetic.
I don't think Rather knew that the memos were phony, he was duped. Better to take the advice of Will Saffire and have a panel of older CBS journalists review it...
nick
I know that. Don't you think they want Heaton for the finale?
No choices here. You have to cut his contract. He has gone insane.
Not watching See BS doesn't work. At least not right away.
Do you suppose they could have pulled the reular show because he might have said something that SeeB.S. didn't like?
"I don't think Rather knew that the memos were phony, he was duped. Better to take the advice of Will Saffire and have a panel of older CBS journalists review it... "
I don't think he knew either. It is his obstinate attitude and his attempts to stonewall after the fact with which I take issue. Safire's advice is great, but is CBS taking that advice? No. How do you get CBS to take action?
Letterman averages taking one week a month off. He is in rerun all week.
I don't want him reigned in. Either CBS should reform itself completely, fire everyone, including Dan, or it should continue to be the transparent shill that it is for the Democrats. What's bad is when the liberal media pretends that it's not liberal. I'd prefer that it be obvious to everyone that they are biased.
Furthermore, CBS has a contract with Rather. Were Heaton to do this, Rather could probably sue her for tortious interference with contract.
Wally is correct. Just stop watching CBS shows that annoy you.
In fact, I think the fat lady has already sung for CBS, etc. Look at the fact that FOX news had better ratings than all the networks during the GOP convention...
no idea...
