The 2004 Republican Convention is over but it was a good one. The GOP Convention will be the most historic political convention in our time. "A well oiled machine," is the phrase most heard the day after as delegates made their way home. Even the balloon drop went off without a hitch or foul words.
The speakers gave remarkably meaningful, important speeches to pump up our party and reminding the American public that pretending terrorism isn't a big deal doesn't make it go away. If you want a better, safer world for your children and grandchildren to grow up in, vote for our president,
Oh, and don't vote for that sitzpinkler John Kerry.
Hopefully we can coax Iowa Granny and Hillary's Lovely Legs into telling us all about their convention adventures.

But please send one to me if you decide on freepmail.
Stay SAFE, Buddy.
It will probably be Monday night before I have the report done.
I've got to go get something accomplished domestically.
Heads up - Mrs.eff'n will be working your state today.
Post the report, please - it'll get wider readership.
Maddy Albright must be deeply concerned about this news:
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A top U.S. counterterrorism official reportedly says The United States and its allies are moving closer to capturing Osama bin Laden.
Dawn and The Nation, two English-language dailies in Pakistan, quote Joseph Cofer Black, the U.S. State Department coordinator for counterterrorism, as saying that there is no way to predict exactly when bin Laden and other top al-Qaida fugitives will be nabbed.
But he said everything is in place and a capture could happen in a day or a month or anytime. the rest
It would be sweet justice if Cofer Black were to catch bin Laden. Then he could shake OBL in Richard Clarke's face. Clarke was always so busy pointing fingers, blaming others for his inability to catch OBL while Cofer Black quietly and loyaly went about doing his job, catching the bad guys.
For an example of what a complete Norma Desmond Mr. Clarke is, look how many times he's listed in the index of the book, 'Losing bin Laden' by Richard Miniter.
148, 186, 76-78, 167-70, 203-6, 209-11, 187-89, 192-94, 195-96, 198, 104, 215, 222-27, 76, 84.
Mr. Black is listed on pages: 187, 205, 210, 222.
In at least half of those pages listing Clarke, he tells the author what a hero he is, the other half, he's busy pointing fingers at people who thwarted his efforts.
Mr. Black isn't so grandiose.
MSM have ignored this gaffe, of course.
The Packer Faithful: Will John Kerry's "Lambert Field" slip cost him in Wisconsin?
"Kerry's blunder is the kind of mistake that campaign reporters often use to demonstrate a larger point. (Remember George H.W. Bush and his inability to come up with the price of a gallon of milk? Or George W. Bush and his failure to name Pervez Musharraf as the president of Pakistan?) But Kerry's gaffe has gotten scant media attention. The newspapers and local television stations in Wisconsin have given him a pass. So has the national press corps."
.....""I think he would be more fitting at a polo match than the all-American sport of football."
Should Children Witness Childbirth?
Due to a power outage, only one paramedic responded to the call. The house was very, very dark, so the paramedic asked Katelyn, a 3-year-old girl, to hold a flashlight high over her mommy so he could see while he helped deliver the baby. Very diligently, Katelyn did as she was asked. Heidi pushed and pushed, and after a little while Connor was born. The paramedic lifted him by his little feet and spanked him on his bottom. Connor began to cry. The paramedic then thanked Katelyn for her help and asked the wide-eyed 3-year old what she thought about what she had just witnessed.
Katelyn quickly responded, "He shouldn't have crawled in there in the first place, smack his ass again."

Call me crazy, but I'm kinda gonna miss the naked babe protesters. |
When the Killers Come for the Children
If Muslim religious leaders around the world will not publicly condemn the taking of children as hostages and their subsequent slaughter if those "men of faith" will not issue a condemnation without reservations or caveats then no one need pretend any longer that all religions are equally sound and moral.Indeed. It's about time someone started calling them out.
Hats off to all of New York's finest and their associates for doing an absolutely yeoman's job of protecting the conventioneers from terrorists, protestors and all the vermin that could have ruined this convention. I love you guys and gals!
Amen to that, Sister. I was totally dumbfounded on Friday morning when they put us on a bus to take us to the Rules committee meeting at the Javitt's Center.
The bus had to pass thru several 'check points' which were guarded with about a dozen police each. At each check point 2 of the cops were cradling M-16's in their arms.
Once the bus driver was instructed to turn off the engine of the bus and lift the hood. A couple of policemen laid on those little flat things that look like doors on wheels (are they called Creepers?) and slid under the bus to inspect it. Other cops inspected under neath the hood of the bus. All the while the guys with the M-16's stood with their jaws set, prepared to mow anybody down who sneezed.
Good Grief! The people of NYC are no longer free. They are living in an occupied society. It truely sickened me to realize what has happened to our country.
It truly sickened me to realize what has happened to our country.

I agree, friend.
I feel your pain, I kinda miss Howard Dean.
Raquel meet The Guild. New lady members also get a greeting from GWB, enjoy.
I'm hoping Putin starts rounding up Muslims over there, perhaps that would spark a call to action in the Muslim community to condemn the radicals.
I also hope that Chirac will swallow his pride and help us with this momentous War on Terror before it's too late.

Hurricane Frances update: Things are wet and blustery here. As you can see I still have power but don't know how long that'll last. Remember when I said we were very lucky that Charley moved so quickly and didn't dump a bunch of rain on us? Frances is taking care of that! We are expecting anywhere from 12 to 20 inches of rain. The dern thing is suppose to hang around for at least 12 hours over us. yuck!
Don't worry about us, we're up on a hill but do cross your fingers that my neighbor's big oak (that's leaning toward our pool) will remain upright!
Indeed! HLL told me she would stop and thank a cop every chance she got. :-)
I just heard a guy on the radio talking about Kerry and the lip-biting, and he said that was a sure sign that someone was faking his concern, just like ol' Blubba. Effin's about 17 miles up the river from me right now. Thankfully, it's a nice hot, humid day, and he'll pit out that $1,000 blazer. That's a shame.
I still think the most important step is for someone to challenge the hierarchy of Islam to denounce these tactics and tell their followers the terrorists are rotting in hell.
I nominate Arnold...in aviator shades.

TV frame grab combination showing Miss Universe (news - web sites) 2004 Jennifer Hawkins of Australia as she hurries off the catwalk after unintentionally revealing her G-string during a fashion show in Sydney. Jennifer's Bora blue-and-gold gown became caught on her stiletto and fell down around her ankles exposing some of the assets that led to her being crowned Miss Universe in Quito in June.
Welcome Raquel! Stay safe and dry, BWB.
