Why Doesn't The "World's Smartest Woman" Have Her Husband In A Better Hospital?

Posted on 09/03/2004 8:58:24 PM PDT by Doctor Raoul

This is a serious thread, I am not joking about this issue.

I was talking to a very respected surgeon earlier tonight, and that was their question to me.

Columbia is a teaching hospital, the surgeons don't get as much experience, they have to also teach. Plus even among the City's teaching hosiptals, it's not the best.

So why Columbia?

I realize he could walk out but it seems someone would advise against it. What about the blood thinner? If he got the blood thinner on Thursday, isn't there a danger of not being able to stop the bleeding in the event he even just gets a minor cut at home?

Occupation: Anesthesiologist

Anesthesiologists are my favorite people in the hospital. We call them 'the bartender'. :-) I have much to thank them for. On my third heart op, (angioplasty with a stent) I was kept out of it enough that I felt nothing, but awake enough that I could competently discuss the fine points of single-malt scotch with the surgeon while he was working.

That's elevating your work to an art form.

I don't think bubba being on plavix was a recent thing, the reporter mentioned it as though it was common knowledge, at least thats the way I took it.

Your right quadruple bypass is serious even though they claim that thousand of people have it done, it does have some serious complications to think about. It wont do bubba any good to have and go back to his old way.

My father had this done many many years ago, his logic was that he was eating, drinking and smoking so much with 75% blockage and afterwords figured he could go out and really party down. It did catch up with him eventually

LOL...

A tremendous number of people take Plavix (and Coumadin) chronically for ASCAD/ASPVD and live a normal life.

Not a problem at all.

Mystery solved, as reply 26 indicated; "Columbia" in "Doctor" Raoul's parlence is actually Prebyterian - number 7 in the country and tops in NYC. Too bad that "Doctor" Raoul didn't specify this in his original post. And, I wonder how many "doctors" would think that teaching hospitals are inferior?

The sympathy vote?

If bubba dies before the election look for a lot of votes going for kerry in memory of.

I'll certainly defer to Ethrane's expertise, but I am most of those same blood thinners right now, and I get all kinds of stupid cuts all of the time. They don't make you a hemophiliac, they just inhibit clotting enough that they keep the stuff from trying to clot up in your coronary artery. You don't really notice a difference if you cut yourself.

Hillary spoke of it all just as she does everything else.

Boring drone of talking down to people and a bunch of partial smile/smirks.

Emotionaless zombie B**** that she is.

She'll probably order him a double cheese pizza while he's in recovery though.

why were we always told he was in excellent health? Wouldn't a problem this severe have shown up 4-5 years ago?

Gee --- the news media showed Clinton running 5 miles a morning --- pretty good for someone with that much blockage.

Hillary has a plan--the widow Clinton is running for President in 2008.

Now would be a good time 'vince-foster' him --- it would make it appear in 2008 that she had enough time to mourn him but she could still try for the sympathy vote for being a widow and he wouldn't be around to embarass her.

Having chest pains? Going through a rough patch in life? Doesn't matter. America's medical system has always shown me it's best side.

I will have to agree with you on this.

Maybe because of their distant relationship, she has no say so on the matter.

Actually, the docs on TV said it was one of the best hospitals in the country, especially for heart problems.

Another question might be why would the Clintons turn to a religious affiliated hospital?

No atheists in the recovery room? Probably because Columbia Presbyterian is no more Presbyterian than the Archbishop of Canterbury is Christian.

Let's start the pool!

While I pray, like most of you, that President Clinton gets exactly what he deserves, let's look ahead.

Here's the bet, in months (not including September), if Clinton dies, how many months will it be before Hillie announces that she will remarry?

Can you imagine Hillie's bliss at this moment? Traitor John is losing his treasonous butt and will not be around in 2008 and Willie might not either, No spousal testimony issues, no more dating local black hookers, no more Monica jokes, full inheretence of all that Iraqi oil voucher money.

It is fair, I guess, to also have a pool on whether she will announce a male or female. And, another pool to name the person.

My bet is that within 6 months of Willie's death, Hillie will announce that she is going to marry Webb Hubbell to finally make her, Webb and Chelsea an honest family.
