Word For The Day, Friday, 9/3/04
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
POSIT: verb. (pa-zit) tr.v. pos·it·ed, pos·it·ing, pos·its
1. To assume the existence of; postulate. See Synonyms at presume. 2. To put forward, as for consideration or study; suggest: If a book is hard going, it ought to be good. If it posits a complex moral situation, it ought to be even better (Anthony Burgess). 3. To place firmly in position.
Etymology: [From Latin positus, past participle of pnere, to place. See position.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Or Oklahoma.
I bet the Aggies are still feeling that one from last year.
77-0? Yeah, that left a mark.
Good afternoon-It's Friday, and I'm off early!
The 'rats are getting more desperate
In their frantic efforts to show
Some chicanery on Dubya's part,
No matter how long ago
As their trial balloons get punctured
By truth and other such things
Now they posit that Dubya's family
Got someone to pull some strings
To get him into the National Guard
Though Ben has said he did not-
For him to try and change that now
Things must be getting hot
They keep digging in futility
For some useful, scandalous text-
No doubt they'll be digging under
The Smithsonian Museum next
Good Grief! Is that score for real? I used to follow A&M football when I was married to my first husband (he was an A&M graduate), but I don't any more.
I thought it was those yellow papers with a sticky strip.
A++ for you, i kept WAITING for someone to say that!
A+ t5. Seanny said that he hears desperation in Kerry's voice. i think he may, but it is too soon to think this is sewn up.
i do feel badly, despite my intense dislike of him. xsteen was astounded when i said i don't wish ANYONE dead. and especially in the bubbaloon's case, as my SIL pointed out, imagine what sort of sacriligious display a bubbaloon funeral would be~!
Patty Ann and Kiran are the faves at our house. : ) Juliette thinks she is ALL THAT and she is just cheap looking compared to Kiran, who i think is very classy and pretty in an understated way.
I am reading Dick Morris' Rewriting History and he posits that she truly loves him, and always has. i don't know that i quite buy that. but he has been very perceptive and forthright about everything else IMO.
Thank you for the nice grade. I won't consider this thing in the bag until I see the results myself the next morning-we've got to keep Kerry's lies exposed.
i am SOOOO tired from staying up to watch the convention speech last night and xsbrownie is having a friend stay for a sleepover tonight. xshub is going to have to be in charge of this! i am dead from now!
8-p
if Hil wants to off him, she can invite all of the old flames to visit at once....
When I was getting a divorce and needed another job in addition to my day job, I worked for a psychological counseling center counseling co-dependent women three evenings a week. Hillary is a textbook co-dependent-she is obviously emotionally abused, she is shrill in her abuser's (Bill's) defense, she enables him to feed his addiction (sex with other women) by looking the other way, and defending him, and she is Queen of Denial-and those are just the most obvious signs...
you know it!
well then, maybe Dick is right. that goes along with what he has said about her, though he hasn't used the co-dependency tag.
Not to mention that mammoth a$s of hers.
