*sigh* I miss Christmas in Germany. Of course, it's better being close to family...but there's something about being in Europe during that season - soooo much history, for one. And I didn't feel like it was quite as commercialized, though maybe that was partly just being on base. The military is such a family...I do miss that around the holidays - being with big groups of people who are all united in being far from home.

Seems like things were special then, way out in a rural area, what few bright lights folks put up, they seemed to burn all the brighter.

Speaking of Gluhwein, this non-drinker says if you only have as much as the German parents give their kids, it ain't drinkin', though I suppose Bill W. or Stuart Smalley would have words with me on that :)
