Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hello everyone! New thread! just a couple hours till Dubya speaks.... everyone going to be watching tonight?
To: HairOfTheDog
Not I. That speech will be an hour long, and I can read an hour-long speech to myself in about six minutes. I can find something better to do with the other 54 minutes.
Xena's Guy, however, will be watching to see how many times that subversive speechwriter inserted the word "nuclear."

Obviously a hobbit, though...since he's looking for the food...

Still projected to go ashore between Miami and Jacksonville, roughly, with the midpoint being about at Melbourne.
I was thinking of fleeing once I got the house boarded up, which it now is. However, I have been told that the 2 arteries out of FL, I-95 and I-75 are both bumper to bumper with their gas stations running dry.
So I think it will be a poor idea to get in my truck with Jeanne and 5 dogs, one of whom weighs over 100 lbs., and head down a highway in that kind of traffic with a major hurricane following right in my tracks, about 10-12 hours behind. Hopefully we'll be better off here, even though we are expecting hurricane force winds tomorrow night.
