The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Now I'm ashamed to admit I don't remember where that's from, though I remember hearing it--when did he say that? :)

And so they came, from the far distant shores, tool bags slung over their shoulders, drawn to woodlands of the Ozarks. Soon the hills would ring with sounds of hammers striking the red oak planks. The air was filled with sawdust and the aromas of fresh bread, bar-b-que and tubs of cool drinks for the workers as toiled neath the Missouri sun.

If it's meant to be yours, you'll have it!

I'm sure you'll hear something by the end of the week. Everyone I know who has bought a house has had some bit of runaround.

"It's curtains for you, Rocky. Curtains."

Then Bugs Bunny plops a curtain rod with these flowery curtains on his head.

"They're adorable."

Has anyone noticed the intended recepient of the HHD traveling 'garage raisin' crew's planning efforts hasn't chimed in?

Unless he's out in the shed checking on the hammer situation. :-)

Kitty wants a screened porch.

Kitty's human needs a screened porch...with a cat door so Miss Cat can take the evening air safely and without waking up her human.
