Have you considered an el cheapo 35mm?
The silver camera and binocular are part of a "spy" set Msdrby bought for $5 for Elf-boy yesterday. It also came with a cheap didital watch. Thanks for the idea on the Walgreen's film, I hadn't thought of it.
The blue-trimmed I-Zone camera is a polaroid we bought for him a while ago. It's pretty cool. You can even get film which has adhesive backing, so the pictures can become "stickers". Darn film is hideously expensive though.

Funny you should mention the el cheapo camera. Yesterday at the toy store (we were there to get a birthday present) I bought elf-boy a manual 35 mm camera that came with a "spy" watch (cheap digital sports watch) and binoculars (plastic!) all for under $10.
