Hello. I am going home today. This has been a blast.

I got my picture taken with Stephen Baldwin last night to complete my photo album of weirdness.

Last night was great. The crowd was very energetic. I got an email that said I was on TV last night.

Things have been good, except for the idiot protestors. I will miss New York but I can't wait to go home.

I will write more later.

It must suck for air to be a democrat this week!

(PageSix):

September 3, 2004 -- ASHLEY Judd (above) felt safer after lunch at the St. Regis yesterday when presidential historian Barry Landau introduced her to William Streeter of the Secret Service K-9 unit and his bomb dog, Godzilla, a Belgian Malinois. Turns out Vice President Dick Cheney was staying at the hotel. Judd posed for photos with the agents and left just before Cheney arrived, disappointed he'd missed the beauty. "I get to meet with delegates all day, and you get to meet Ashley Judd," Cheney joked to the agents.

*********************

September 3, 2004 -- GUESTS at the Park Avenue maisonette of William F. and Pat Buckley were wondering where their hosts were Wednesday night. "I took a tumble and broke my left arm in three places," Pat told PAGE SIX yesterday. "Life is not particularly happy at the moment." The party — which drew the likes of Norman Podhoretz, Kate O'Beirne, David Frum and Monica Crowley — was sponsored by the National Review, which William F. founded in 1955. But Bill was on a long-scheduled cruise of the Dalmatian coast with Evan and Bootsie Galbraith and Sir Alistair Horne. "I made him go, otherwise he'd just be sitting here staring at me," Pat said from their house in Connecticut. Their son, Christopher, editor-in-chief of FYI magazine, came up from Washington to keep his mom laughing as they watched the Republican convention on TV.

***************************

September 3, 2004 -- PAT Boone may be a pop culture punchline these days, but he's still a star among the silver-haired set. The creaky crooner was the featured attraction at yesterday's "Breakfast with Boone" at Studio 450, where Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig and about 300 senior citizen delegates basked in his presence. "I call him the Original American Idol," said Jim Martin, president of the 60 + Association, a conservative lobbying group that's trying to get rid of the death tax. "All the grayheads in the room just loved him." To celebrate his 50 years in showbiz, Boone says he wants to release four albums devoted to gospel, R&B, country and pop. Asked what he wouldn't sing, Boone said in a statement, "I'm not going to do songs that call women bitches and ho's."

Thanks for all the great convention reports.

Just a Tip: Before leaving, remember to check your luggage for any annoying, male stowaway delegates who like making early morning phone calls. :)

That's very kind of you lodwick but I don't think we can get all four of us plus the dog and the two cats in the car. And the dumb old truck won't make it that far more than likely.

Hey, I know, put some excitment in your life and come stay with us! And bring your chain saw. :-)

HLL's voice sounds much better this morning. How awful it must have been for her, to be around all those great people she wanted to meet and not be able to say a word!

The youth of American continue their trend towards conservatism. From Cindy Adams:

LUNCH at Daniel. Jim Cramer of CNBC's "Kudlow & Cramer": "I have two children, 10 and 13. They yawned through the Democratic Convention. Nobody there had star power. But they both watched the GOP stuff and wanted the autographs of McCain, Rudy and Arnold. Me, I'm a Democrat, but Bush throws a better party. To quote my kids: 'The Republicans are cooler.' "

Ashley Judd's political views are nowhere near Bush/Cheney's, so a meeting with the VP might have been a tad awkward.

Boone said in a statement, "I'm not going to do songs that call women bitches and ho's."

Whew, that's a relief!

This from Peter Brown, a columnist in The Orlando Sentinel.

[snip] Coming from lifelong Democrat Miller, who gave the keynote speech at the 1992 convention that nominated Bill Clinton, it was a powerful indictment of Kerry.

Of course it is relevant for journalists to question why Miller has made such a turnaround. But striking was the commentary from three high-profile network types who earned their spurs working for top Democrats.

Tim Russert, NBC's Washington bureau chief, was a top aide to Gov. Mario Cuomo and Sen. Daniel P. Moynihan, both New York Democrats. Interestingly, Russert's bio on the NBC Web site mentions his government background but not who or what party he worked for.

NBC's Chris Matthews, a former speechwriter for President Jimmy Carter and top aide to House Speaker Tip O'Neill, was by far the worst offender toward Miller, with whom he had an on-camera confrontation, ABC's George Stephanopoulos was an aide to President Bill Clinton and Democratic lawmakers.

All are good, decent people who try to put their own political bias in the closet when they take to the air. Russert, especially, has become one of the best interviewers on TV, generally treating Democrats and Republicans alike.

Their treatment of Miller was something else.

Instead of focusing on what Miller said and the significance of his willingness to savage the titular head of his own party, they tried to explain away his behavior or get inside Miller's head about why he would turn on his own party.

It was almost as though they were high-school kids talking about a friend who had decided to hang out with a rival clique. They were trying to rationalize it, rather than present it as something the Democrats should take to heart. [The truth hurts and like a pack of teenagers they ganged up on the adult who was trying to spoil their fun.]

Of course, the networks have hired some Republicans, too. Here's the difference, though:

Kristol, Scarborough and Will make no bones about their politics, and they are not foisted off on viewers as impartial analysts.

Their job is to give a Republican, conservative perspective, and they are advertised as such.

Television makes individuals larger than life and imbues them with magical, all-knowing powers in the minds of many viewers.

Most viewers don't know broadcasters' backgrounds and, at least superficially, assume them to be objective.

These three may be less biased than Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw or Peter Jennings. But the top anchors lack the work history that give us reason to doubt their impartiality.

Polls show Americans are becoming more and more skeptical about the news media's objectivity and many more believe that the media tilt left than lean right. Journalists don't hesitate to impugn the credibility of those in public life based on background, friendship or comments.

The network honchos should understand this skepticism is applied by the public to the news media also.

It should be.

When I hear Russert, Stephanopoulos or Matthews tell me why something is happening or questioning a politician's motives, I can't help but question how their backgrounds figure in their analysis.

If most Americans were aware of these backgrounds, they would, too. Journalists' conflicts of interest are no more acceptable than those of politicians.

How did that get past the editors?

It would have been awkward but I have no doubt that if Ms. Judd were to meet Cheney and if she didn't allow her bias to get in the way Dick Cheney would change her mind. :-)

I was so impressed with Pataki's speech last night. Before he spoke I groaned to myself, why use Pataki to introduce the president? Well I sure got my answer. He did a beautiful job of drawing a picture of the way Americans came together to help NYC. I had goosebumps on top of goosebumps.

Having the convention in NYC was a stroke of genius -- something I'm getting used to with GWB in the White House.

President Bush's speech was great and he looked relaxed, his delivery was superb. All of it was good but this part really made my heart sing!:

BUSH: Our allies also know the historic importance of our work. About 40 nations stand beside us in Afghanistan, and some 30 in Iraq. I deeply appreciate the courage and wise counsel of leaders like Prime Minister Howard, President Kwasniewski, Prime Minister Berlusconi and, of course, Prime Minister Tony Blair.

(APPLAUSE)

Again, my opponent takes a different approach. In the midst of war, he has called American allies, quote, a "coalition of the coerced and the bribed."

AUDIENCE: Boooo.

BUSH: That would be nations like Great Britain, Poland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Denmark, El Salvador, Australia, and others...

(APPLAUSE)

... allies that deserve the respect of all Americans, not the scorn of a politician.

(APPLAUSE)

I respect every soldier, from every country, who serves beside us in the hard work of history. America is grateful, and America will not forget.

(APPLAUSE)
Text of Bush's speech The text even includes the aduience's, "Flip flop, flip flop, flip flop." !!! :-)

Take that Effin', you ungrateful, opportunist POS.

Some satire:

How Gore Lied Us Into War

by William S. Lind

When President Al Gore was inaugurated in January 2001, few Americans imagined that before his first term ended, our country would be at war with Sweden. Indeed, Mr. Gore's campaign suggested he would reduce American commitments abroad, avoid foreign adventures and forgo "nation building," which American voters long ago realized costs heaps of money and does not work.

That may have been what American voted for, but it is not what we got. What we got was the wildest, most adventuristic and most disastrous foreign policy since Woodrow Wilson – who won in 1916 with the slogan "He kept us out of war" – led America into World War I a month after his inauguration.

How did it happen? The answer is to be found not in Washington, but in Copenhagen. There, the governing coalition is dominated by the Greater Denmark Party, whose goal is to retake for Denmark all the lands it once governed: Norway, southern Sweden, even northern England. The Party's semi-secret slogan is "From the River (Thames) to the Sea (the Baltic)."

The Danish Government knows it is not powerful enough to achieve that goal on its own. It needs someone else to do most of the fighting. And it has found that "someone else," in the United States.

When the Gore Administration came to power, it promptly turned America's defense and foreign policy over to a small group of people who were de facto members of the Greater Denmark Party. Some had actually participated in drawing up Denmark's new grand strategy, which called for defeating all Denmark's opponents (with American help) so completely they would accept whatever terms the Danes offered. Now, from their key positions in the Pentagon, the U.S. State Department and the White House, they have made America into the Greater Denmark Party's tool, at vast cost to America's national interests, its treasury, and the lives of its soldiers.

Just who are these people? Many years ago, they began calling themselves "neo-barbarians," which was soon shortened to "neo-barbs." They see themselves as heirs to Viking kingdoms of a thousand years ago, and are determined to realize their fantasy, at whatever cost (to others). Real barbarians scoff at the neo-barbs; as one paleo-barbarian leader recently said, "These guys are such wusses they think you pillage first then rape. None of them ever swung a battle axe in combat, and they would puke at their first sight of a blood-eagle."

Nonetheless, the neo-barbs have intimidated most of their critics into silence. Not only do they denounce them at every opportunity for "anti-Vikingism," they long ago seized control of the nation's herring supply. Anyone who points out that the neo-barbs are unregistered foreign agents quickly finds himself starving.

The result of this colossal sell-out of America by its own leaders is all too well known. President Gore's administration has backed the Greater Denmark Party to the hilt. It has ruined our relations with the rest of Europe, undermining whatever friends we had in the region. It has done what no enemy could ever do; it has made America hated.

Worse, following demands for "regime change" in Sweden, Norway and Pago-Pago, on the basis of a charge of "building 60-gun ships of the line" (since proven false), the United States invaded Sweden.

At first, the war appeared to go well. The U.S. Army swept into Stockholm in a few weeks, with little resistance. But it turned out that was part of Sweden's strategy. Taking Stockholm did not mark the end of the war, but its beginning.

The Swedes quickly proved to be adept guerilla fighters. One of their most deadly weapons is the IED – the Inedible Device. Swedish guerillas regularly sneak rutabagas into the Americans' mess halls and even insert them in MREs, with catastrophic consequences. American soldiers hit with an IED thereafter refuse to eat anything and starve to death. Another Swedish ambush technique is to stop American troops on the street and tell them Swedish jokes. The Americans die of boredom waiting for the punch line, which does not exist. Worst of all, the Swedes have simply gone on being Swedes, paying high taxes and enjoying a wide variety of government services. All American efforts to transform Sweden into a laissez-faire capitalist paradise simply fall on barren ground.

Despite America's expenditure of tens of billions of dollars and almost one thousand lives, the Swedes are taking their country back. Stockholm's Gamle Stan is now a "no go" area for American troops, with children throwing Swedish meatballs and even being rude. In Skana, which was initially friendly to the Americans, old Saabs now regularly pull in front of American convoys, choking our troops with two-stroke exhaust. Recently, the Swedes recaptured their naval base at Karlskrona and quickly built a new fleet of 40-gun frigates to Mr. Chapman's superb design. A squadron has escaped into the Atlantic, causing the American Department of Homeland Security to warn that our coastal cities may soon suffer Swedish bombardment. While the Gore Administration still claims its invasion of Sweden "made the world safer from random sailing warships," the fact is that there was no danger of Swedish naval bombardment before we attacked and now there is.

Thankfully, the monstrous folly of America's enslavement to a Danish political party will soon end. This year sees another presidential election, and Republican candidate Bob Taft is stumping the country demanding an end to the Swedish war, the expulsion of the neo-barbs from public office and the return of sanity in American foreign policy. All over America, Taft's campaign train is being met by wildly enthusiastic crowds, crowds that include many Democrats. Taft's clear, courageous stand against an inane war and the people who caused it has him soaring in the polls. Gore may be beaten worse than Hoover in 1932. There are even rumors that Gore and his neo-barb appointees are negotiating with Taft for a post-election pardon from charges of war crimes, including that rather inclusive Nuremberg standard, "planning aggressive war."

Yes, folks, in America democracy still works. When issues like war and peace are on the line, the system offers American voters a clear, unambiguous choice. Everyone knows that Gore's real slogan is, "Four More Wars." The contrast with Bob Taft's foreign policy for Americans and end to wars for foreign interests could not be clearer. Once again, in a time of national peril, our democratic system has brought forth a candidate of genuine conviction, moral courage and unwavering principle.

Isn't it great to be an American?

Despite the general preference for the President"s appearance, the GMI World Poll shows that Kerry not only continues to gain support from people who favored George W. Bush in 2000 but is also converting a number of undecided voters. Although the survey indicates one in every three undecided voters think Bush is more attractive than his challenger, it also reveals the majority of undecided voters ultimately will base their decisions on the candidates" platforms, not their personal values or belief systems. [I'm not believing this for one second. What, they're going to vote for the candidate with the "secret plan" for Iraq? I think not.] This reinforces poll results that undecided voters reflect the profile of Kerry"s base, according to Dr. Mitchell Eggers, chief operating officer at GMI.

Eggers, who develops the content for all GMI World Polls, included the attractiveness questions because he believes physical appearances definitely influence voters. "In the modern media, attractiveness is one of those subliminal characteristics that helps candidates project themselves and their views," he explains. [You're toast Kerry.]

Some satire:

I thought satire was supposed to be funny. Had Mr. Lind based his satire on some truth it might have been amusing but here's where the whole thing falls apart:

Indeed, Mr. Gore's campaign suggested he would reduce American commitments abroad, avoid foreign adventures and forgo "nation building," which American voters long ago realized costs heaps of money and does not work.

Mr. Lind's thinking is very September 10th. The only way to bring the Arab world around so they'll stop breeding hate into their children is to help them build a productive society and governments instead of tyrants and torture, that are then blamed on the U.S. for propping up such dictators. We've been wrong in the past by propping up those who mistreat their citizens hoping those tyrants would keep their populations in line. It didn't work, so now we have to send our young men and women to battle thugs and murderers and try to build up their countries at the same time. We should have paid closer attention to those regions festering hate for America and done some preemptive work.

There were those who saw this coming, why they didn't educate the rest of us to what it would bring in the future is my question.

I wonder what the people sitting around this protester thought when she started removing her clothing, to reveal her pink slip.

An unidentified protester is removed as President Bush (news - web sites) accepts the party nomination at the Republican National Convention Thursday, Sept.2, 2004, in New York. (AP Photo/Gregory Bull)

Yep folks it's an IDIOT TWOFER!

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) shakes hands with supporters after delivering a speech in Springfield, Ohio. Kerry launched a furious riposte 02 September to a Republican onslaught on his record, [that would be his senate record folks, not whether or not he served honorably in Viet Nam] accusing President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney of deliberately avoiding Vietnam war service.(AFP/Hector Mata)

Wow, the president and vice president, anyone involved in the campaign for that matter commend Effin' for his service and Effin' just keeps on trashing his opponents. It's like hilly is running the Kerry campaign. *cough*

Don't look directly at their faces, their teeth will blind you.
