What's up with Dwarves and the number seven, anyway?
I was wondering the same thing, LOL! Actually I think I've read an argument that Tolkien was somewhat influenced by "Snow White". Also I know he drew some of the Dwarf names from the Norse eddas, so maybe there's a seven in there somewhere.
