EGE; ah, much better pics, still id'em though :-) had the M-1 carbine years ago, enjoyed it, believe I traded it for a Rem 788 in .308.
I was vey good to myself after Gulf War I; I had the better part of six month's pay stacked up in the bank (plus taxes I didn't have to pay 'cuz of combat, plus hazardous duty pay, minus only car payments and small purchases in Saudi Arabia); I bought, among other things, the M1 Carbine and a Chinese SKS. Later, when stationed in Texas, I went looking for an '03, and found that one...took a little work to restore it to it's original look.
