Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Is it your birthday? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! No, it isn't (wasn't) my birthday - it just will be when Suziq comes up to Vermont next, in October.
I'm kinda dreading this birthday, to be honest. It's kind of a milestone, in that I've been aware of each time I've passed an age when my mother had already done something. i.e., at 21 or 22 (just barely 22, I think), she met my Dad...at 23 she got married, and she was 28 when I was born. *sigh* I've missed all of those milestones.
Also means 30 is vey close. That's another I'm trying not to think about...

Good morning! Gotta head back into that job this morning. I'll be glad when it's over. It is really getting in the way of my life!

Good morning! Monday...ugh. And the students are baaaack. It's going to be a crazy, crazy day.
We had MAJOR thunderstorms last night. We were all out at the house watching a movie when they first started hitting - sheet lightning and horrendous thunder, plus TORRENTIAL rain. Not a hurricane, but pretty intense just the same. They lost the power almost immediately, and since the house is built on sheet-rock (or something like that), it's been known to happen that people get shocked if downstairs when lightning strikes nearby, so we all crowded into an upstairs bedroom and played music by candlelight for quite a while. Fun, but not exactly planned!
Supposed to get more of the same today, and there's another flood watch in effect. Goody.

Good morning, 2J!
I tried your inside-out sock trick this morning, and it seemed to work. In any case, I didn't end up with any new blisters, and the old ones (just about healed) weren't made worse. I'll probably use that until if and when I can make my shoes fit better or get better socks!

Good morning, you two! I had a pretty slow weekend...really didn't do anything. Steve donated blood on Sat...that was all we did that day...then Sunday was just church.
Oh, we did go to a homeschool "back to school" party, but right after we got there a kid fell out of a tree house and broke his arm, so that family left, obviously. Then the owner's dog (one of those small snippy kind) bit one of the little kids (Joshua's age), so that family left. Then a girl got bit by a horse on the cheek! So the party ended kinda early! LOL Oh well, the jedis had a pretty good and uneventful time, thankfully!
Gosh, Rosie...don't wash away!

I've been shocked! By lightening coming up through the livingroom floor! Don't you remember that? I think Joshua got the jolt too, but I really did...through my hands.
That's when it fused my car tire to the driveway!
You just never know what's gonna happen!

That's a lot of carnage for one party!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah! LOL And since most people forgot about it, there was only like 6 families there... and one family lived next door! So when the three families left, that just left Celeste and me with our families there. We departed early.

Have a good day 2J.... I'll be off to get showered and go soon, then be back this afternoon.

The craziness is beginning...buncha the new students can't get connected, and the ones that CAN...aren't necessarily patched or have up-to-date anti-virus software. I'm burning a bunch of virus removal tool CDs, and trying to mentally prepare myself for the onslaught.

*yawn* g'mornin'
It's Monday, that's fer dang sure.
- Got to the gym and realized I forgot my belt.
- Then I realized I lost the comb I just bought.
- Went home to get the belt and found that our flag pole had broken (fortunately the azaleas caught the flag so it didn't hit the ground).
- Then I spilled my coffee.
- And when I finally got here (late) I spent fifteen minutes looking for a file I needed first thing. I remembered leaving it on my desk, but I filed it with a project for next week.
Oh well, at least it's supposed to rain today...

This Monday couldn't POSSIBLY be as bad for me as last Monday was...so I'm feeling pretty good.
Except that today was weigh-in day, and I've been stuck at the same number for a month. Granted, I've cheated a LITTLE, but not much. I'm thinking maybe I should go back to Phase I for a bit.
