Heh, I should be able to tell tomorrow night. The files I've been getting have been way better quality than streaming video anyway, so I'm suppressing the pangs of guilt... I blame it all on anime, you know... first fansubs, then reality shows.

I just finished editing commercials out of four episodes of "Andromeda" and burning them to VCD...

evenin' evellybody... have I missed everything?

Bear, a prediction: this business with reality shows will proceed until someone actually is accidentally killed on live TV. The ratings for that show will spike through the roof. This fact will not be lost on network producers.

From there it is only a short haul to gladiators and lions.

Howdy evellybody. Am a little late tonight. Had a dinner and drinks thing with an old college bud.

evenin'... darn near everyone's gone to bed already...

someone actually is accidentally killed on live TV.

"Survivor" has come close once or twice, but it was taped not live...

The operative question will be, if they catch such a thing on tape... will they show it? Funny thing is... there would be a meeting of producers and they would all pretend to "agonize" over the decision. They might decide not to show the first one. Better to wait for the second one.

[sigh] dang it. I hate it when I get cynical. :-)

I just posted Part 1 of the article series I've been working on the past few months; if anyone is interested in reading it, the link is:

But there's a slight difference between burning something you've recorded, and downloading something else...

At least I haven't started downloading movies, or any shows more... serious than reality programming. I mean, how much money can they make off those things after they've shown once, anyway?

If it's recorded, it would be on the Internet within a week, no matter how much the producers tried to supress it...

Well, they never show reruns, and afaik they're not out on DVD, so I guess they don't think they can make money on 'em after the first showing.

Ouch, I'd read it but my head hurts already. Anime's all I can manage tonight.

Hey there Mister Nad... saw the news of goin' back to skrewl. :-) Sounds like a good and worthwhile thing.

I wish I'd finished my MBA, but I never did. May come to regret that someday, 'specially if I quit this job. I got about halfway or better and then started remodeling the house, then got the promotion to what I'm doing... available time just dried up. Something had to give and that was it. Kept saying I'd go back and finish it but never did.

Even so, it was time and money well spent. I got a lot out of the program and it has been useful anyway. If nothing else I learned to recognize BS buzzwordology more quickly and efficiently. :-)

Right, that's my reasoning. It's not like downloading something like Star Trek that gets shown a thousand times... she rationalizes.

Hope the RIAA never develops an anime-arm, I might be in trouble. But there's only 6 more episodes of FMA, I can't stop now. They should expect that when they license such a great show 3/4 of the way through a run! I can't wait a year for the dvds!

Somebody would probably mention that at the meeting, by way of rationalization.

she rationalizes.

Rationalizations are important. None of us can get through a week without a couple of really smashing rationalizations. :-)

Holysmokes... there's a breaking thread now that says that one of the Russian planes that went down today did in fact squawk a hijack signal (7500? IIRC? Hair?).

Yikers.

Yup. And I rationalize that I'm acquainting myself with their series, which makes me more likely to watch future series. So I can't pay now but maybe I'll pay later.

G'night, Bear! I'll probably turn in soon, too--I'm burnt out after proofreading that several dozen times. Adding footnotes in html is no fun. . .

I'm still trying to rationalize away *why* I went out for SUSHI for dinner tonight. My bud really wanted to go there... and I resisted... but I gave in. Gawd... I hate sushi. I'm sorry but it is just raw fish. Fish, of all dishes, should be cooked. Raw fish is what other fish eat. And bears. People worked many thousands of years toward civilization and the ability to "cook" food. This should not be abandoned trivially. Just IMHO.

I did manage to order some teriyaki salmon sushi that was actually pretty good mostly due to the massive amount of cream cheese pressed into the little niblet of raw fish substance.

Incidentally: My bud werks up at the Lazy-M ranch. Got a few beers in 'im and some fun tidbits started coming out. I don't have specifics to tell but watch the pressers coming out of the ranch for the next week or so regarding Longhorn. Apparently very little fun is being had. More to follow.
