Whatcha up to? I'm still sitting up waiting for Myranda and Mr. to get here from Austin. :-)
I am really dreading having to go back to WF for just one day next week. I am thinking that I might be getting close to being over that psychosis about moving back to Austin. LOL
I don't want to be there and bug the kids.... but I am finding myself more of a mind that I really miss the Austin lifestyle. I never really lost that mindset. Gotta get through this contract in WF....
God always has His plan for us, though sometimes it's hard waiting for Him to tell us what it is :) Feeling burnt-out sounds like a good sign to take a break from that type of ministry for a bit. But maybe in the process of recuperation your study will lead you in a new direction for a future ministry you can participate in. Best advice I can give is to pray about it and study over it. I'm sure pieces will fall into place over time.
Isaiah is another book I can get into. Joshua through Samuel I haven't studied as much as some other books and it'd probably be good for me to read again.
Also realized after my last post I should've mentioned the 10 Commandments--I find myself thinking about them a lot, not just their external application but also the internal application elaborated in the Sermon on the Mount. There's so much there to think about and put into practice.

No, DaBear hasn't read Heinlein lately, or deeply. Right now, he's chewing on The Past Through Tomorrow, a collection of many of the Future History short stories and novellas.
Puppet Masters is adult, and will appeal to Corin's dwarvish nature, as the characters spend the greater part of the novel naked. <snicker> The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress, on the other hand, has a streak of sentiment running through it. Mistress makes me cry at the end, every time I read it. However, Corin, there are a couple of instances in that novel of people having problems with toilets and plumbing ... at least, you're not alone!
PE, you take good care of those Heinlein novels ... they may be worth a mint! It's been a very long time since you could buy a paperback novel for seventy-five cents!
There were a lot of times in my life when I spent quite a bit more time in Old Testament study than NT study. Seems like a lot of that paralleled a lot of the struggles relating to the old kind of biker lifestyle. There were many times when OT insights led me to be able to lead someone else to Christ. I think that's one of those kind of niche ministry things.
I've spent quite a bit of time in the last years praying about direction. I have also realized that a lot of the drive I had for ministry for the last years was my way to deal with the loss of my husband. I just buried myself in ministry. I'm tired now. I've dealt with that loss and I'm ready to live again.
Oddly enough I've even had my bike up for sale for a while now. I never thought I'd be without a bike but I had put it up for sale in order to help pay for Myranda's schooling this year. Now that she's married and not going to school, I am still thinking I'll sell the bike. I love riding. But it seems like there is so little time and reason to ride anymore. And I don't enjoy biker functions the way I used to anymore either. It's that demographics thing again. I just don't have much in common with the people. I don't care to associate.

It sounds like you're coming out of the end of one major phase of your life and just starting the beginning of another one, and its nature-to-be isn't clear yet, but your OT interest is pointing your towards it. I find it interesting that during your biker ministry OT insights helped you lead others to Christ. Like what's an example of the type of OT insight you found helpful there?
Giving up your bike would be a major change for you!--I'm having trouble picturing WN without her bike :) I can understand what you say about not having as much in common, though. As I've grown in Christ I've sometimes been surprised to find secular things that were once very central to me aren't as important anymore. Sometimes I still enjoy them but in a new light, other times I just lose interest because I can see negative things I couldn't before. It's kind of weird and sometimes kind of scary but also kind of neat.

Actually, the change in biker affairs is not about my change in spiritual growth but about the change in the nature of who is riding Harleys now. I am one of those people who replaced dysfunctional family with a group of friends in a very tight-knit community of bikers. 10 years ago I knew I could walk into any Harley shop in the nation and I would have friends or help. Now, with the rise in popularity of bikes that is no longer true. The people who ride are no longer a community and a lifestyle but a gathering of folks who just like to ride. Nothing wrong with that.... except that those of us old guys who had the family type connections have pretty much been left behind.
We all still love to ride. But, we are disillusioned by the people we find on the road now. Then too, many ride stupid and few ride well.
I still have the close friends who have replaced the family I haven't had. But, our family ties are the focus. I don't need my bike for that.
Well, if you decide to do something with that series of novels I'm here to do the drive.... I may have a new Camaro soon to try the ride in.... stay tuned.

That's probably usually a good idea! :) Like they say, "Man proposes but God disposes."
Email them back, "everything you provided us worked as you had planned". It works especially well when executives give you stupid stuff, or "make bricks without straw" orders.
Big shots don't make stupid mistakes. They morons they hire just aren't smart enough to appreciate their brilliance. I learned that one the hard way (several times).
