Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Steve is taking a nap.
Yeah - everyone is fine I think. Not sure where LCS lives, but the regulars have all checked in.
We've heard from ksen and Ruthy. ksen was the only one really in the path of the thing.
He's down to a tropical storm over North Carolina. Could be some flooding down there. Just more rain for us.
Did ksen evacuate? His home is ok?
It just looked dreadful on the news.
He checked in up on the thread. They lost power and spent the night with his in-laws. But no damage.
Thank God for that.
Fedora : Good idea, they would be hard to find if they got away.
Overtaxed; same here, Gypsy, Annie and Louise go with us or we stay. Once a person leaves, the roadblocks can keep out but staying put often is best course of action. Okay, we're not in MH, coast or flood plain, either. :-) But we do get our share of Twisters.
I expect I should be looking for a house with a basement. :)
Sis, I wonder if you can desalinate the pickles in fresh water? Draw out some of the brine?
I dunno...hmmm...
I decided on chili. Curry will be tomorrow night...then I can take leftovers to work Monday.
I usually don't have to worry about lunch on Sundays, since Dad cooks. Some of the time it's a cheat, but I seem to be able to get away with one meal a week, so I don't worry too much.
Well, they are handy especially if you don't have root cellar in back.
The Return of Aunt Bea's Pickles?
I've made those, too. And if you don't have a muffin pan, all you have to do is use those foil muffin cup thingies and put them on a cookie sheet.
Those would be good to make ahead for breakfast when you're really busy with school and work. Could probably just use the same recipe, but I do have the SB book and can check that.
*waves to everyone*
I'm used to seeing it for several times that amount--must be the store I usually buy it at or something. If I could find it for 89 cents I'd use it more often. There are some Thai dishes I like that taste much better with coconut milk.
"Red Zone Cuba" is one I don't have, unfortunately. Hmmm--you got "Manos"?
I usually love eating the low carb ice cream from Braums, you know...2-3 carbs per two ounce serving. That's a good sized, normal scoop, in my opinion.
So I went over to Celeste's house and she asked me if I wanted some! I said "Sure!" expecting a scoop of ice cream.
OH MY STARS she gave me FOUR scoops! You know low carb doesn't mean low fat...it's almost solid cream! I didn't want to be rude, so I choked down all four scoops of that ice cream.
Short time later, I'm driving home...my stomach still hadn't recovered from the pizza cheat from the day before and with this ice cream, I swear...my stomach had shooting pains! I was REALLY sick.
I finally got to feeling a bit better by bedtime, after an extra long hot soak...I couldn't eat any supper.
I'm back to normal today, but I've been really careful about what I'm taking in!
Hmmm....not sure. Is that the one with the "neck juice"?
There! Salsa all made for this week. I've been making that almost every weekend, and it's usually gone in a matter of days, in spite of the fact that I make a hugh amount. For one thing, Bilbo keeps snarfing it. Now he wants to know if I'll make him his OWN batch, if he buys the ingredients.
I'd probably love 'em. I love really salty stuff. It's why I like popcorn...and anchovies.
Makes my hands swell though.
