The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Good Morning!

Gotta pack (part-way) this evening...I got the unseen clothes all set, now I need pants'n'shirts'n'sweatpants and maybe to dig a jacket out of the cold-weather gear bag :(

I haven't been planning this trip to the psychotic extent I usually do (mostly because my cousin's handling the "where" and "what do we do when we get there") and have a feeling I'm going to be buying something obvious over there...

I'm awake now!

I had the coolest dream last night. went on a long time with more detail and cohesion than a lot of my dreams have. Everyone was here for a wedding, but it wasn't mine. We were talking about the last time we were all together being my wedding, as if that had been years earlier. Ramius was playing with a remote control lawnmower, and Ruthy was finding more and more stray kittens ~everywhere~. We had two big guest houses out by the witch's circle, and all the freepers were staying in one of them, the other one was full of other people who I knew in the dream but don't know now.

Good morning!

OK, NOW it's cold. Only 48 out there now, and it was more like 40 at six this morning. Brrrrr! Supposed to get up to the low sixties, and that's it. Now...I don't like heat, but that's a bit too much of a good thing, especially for early August.

Have to leave early today to go pick up my littlest sister from camp. It involves going to the big scary city of Burlington, VT. Yikes! I'm hoping that goes OK. We survived it once before this year, but that's about the only time I've driven there...

Ugh...made coffee from the really cheap coffee beans I had, just to see if I noticed I difference. I've been using good stuff lately. I definitely notice a hugh difference. God help me, I'm horribly spoiled now! Still, at least it's caffeinated. ~sip~ *shudder* ~sip~ *shudder*

The human mind is incapable of producing something so complex that that same mind cannot comprehend it (given enough effort).

I don't know about that.... all the time I come back to some old work I was doing and think, 'What the H311 was I thinking?!?!!'

When are you coming out for brother's wedding?

Mid-April. I think the date is the 16th? It's on a Saturday.

I'm starting to hear the big 30 approaching. Trying not to think about it.

Heh...the bitter women-hater's club here on FR would be happy to tell you about how to obtain a mail order bride. And no, I ain't jokin'. Ever been on those threads? Scary. And yet, I'm drawn to them just the same...morbid curiosity, I guess.

ug! why did I even click on that....

Yeah, I used to think 30 was some kind of deadline but it is becoming highly unlikely I will be married in the next 2.5 years so I had to push that out to 35. Working that math in reverse that says if I have at least 4 kids the oldest will be (hopefully) graduated from college when I am in my early 60's. Which gives my wallet another 10 or 15 years to recover so I can retire. :P

Ouch.... Really long engagement. I thought it'd be this fall! And they aren't even living in the same state now? Are they not in any rush at all? ;~D

I was hopin' for 22 or so. ;-) Kinda late for that, now. But then, being a gal it's different. And I was / am still hoping for a pretty big family, which means the earlier the better.

But I guess at this point I'd be content with when / if. Most of the time, anyway. One of my little (well...younger - he's only 22) brothers just got engaged, and I'm both happy for him and not a little envious at the same time.
